I've had Studio on my system for a while (got it for free with my Canon DV camera), but never used it as I was happy with my Ulead VideoStudio 7 and Ulead MovieFactory software. But recently, I've wanted to start capturing in SVCD from DV (I use a DV encoder for analog capture), and found that Ulead's products won't do this - you have to capture in higher res and transcode, a very slow process with Ulead software.
I played with Studio and found it could do SVCD from DV with no problem, and with very good control over the encoding parameters. Studio worked flawlessly for me in this task, and was quite fast in producing the final MPEG file. It lacks a decent editor for removing commercials, the "Extract Video" feature of Ulead's products is superior and far simpler to use, so I just created the raw file in Studio, then edited/burned in VideoStudio 7. Studio worked fine for me, I'll have to delve into it more to see if I run into the problems others have related here. |
