tovid is a suite of utilities designed to make VCD, SVCD, and DVD authoring a little less painful. tovid can create MPEG output from arbitrary video formats; other components in the suite can help you identify video files, generate graphical menus for DVD, and write the XML for authoring (S)VCDs and DVDs.

tovid-0.35.2

This release contains minor changes from 0.35.0 and merges 0.35.1 which was a BSD compatibility branch. The main changes for most users will be:
Fixed set_chapters not having exec bit set
Fixed grep for libav filters
Some python3 fixes
Fixed scope problem that only showed up on freebsd for some reason.
Fixed imagemagick spumux buttons for IM-6.9.1-x.
Make ffmpeg the default encoder when both ffmpeg and avconv are present.

It's a no-brainer tool. There is a GUI, but I perfer the command line interface.

Tovid only gets a 7 in functionality because of the lack of options, but I guess that can be a good thing for some people.

Tovid is simple to use. Type tovid-interactive, asks the name of the file to encode, format to encode to (DVD, VCD, SVCD), region (PAL/NTSC), size for DVD (D1, half-D1, quarter-D1), noise filter (Y/N), normalize audio (Y/N), aspect ratio (Full, Wide, Panovision), then output name. Then it's off.

Well done.

Just waiting on a full featured GUI now.
