Complete Version history / Release notes / Changelog / What's New for DVMP Pro

Changes from version 7.0 to 7.5.5:

New near-lossless output types for Burn-in/Time stamping that use Cineform video encoding/compression in an MP4 or AVI file. Cineform has been used for many years in professional video production due to its extremely high image quality, incredibly fast processing, and relatively small files (compared to other lossless file formats). This makes it ideal if you intend to import your time-stamped files into other software for further editing, processing or transcoding.

New Display time in 12 hour am/pm format option. Previously DVMP Pro always displayed and time-stamped the time in 24 hour (military) format unless you used the special custom formatting tags. But now you can simply tick this new option and the time will be in 12 hour format with an "AM" or "PM" suffix.

New tool Burn-in New Time Stamp available on the Tools menu. If your camera stored an incorrect time while recording (or didn't store a time at all) then you can now provide a completely new date and time for time-stamping. You choose the year, month, day, hour, minute and second to be stamped.

New upper and lower case feature for the time-stamping Rec date and Rec time custom formatting tags. In most languages day and month names are in lower case with an initial capital, but you can use this new feature to force day and month names and AM/PM text to be all upper or lower case.

Burn-in Time Stamp tool now lets you burn-in Custom Text and Logo Image.

Fixed a issue where some Windows and third-party AVI Video Compressors could not be selected in the 64 bit version of DVMP Pro. This is actually a bug in 64 bit editions of Windows, but we have worked around it.

Improved support for Intel decoders, and Intel libraries updated.

Support added for MagicYUV, a new high-efficiency lossless third-party AVI Video Compressor.

Numerous minor tweaks and bug fixes.

What's New in Version 7 of DVMP Pro

Here's a list of some of the main features and changes from the old version 6 to the new version 7:

Faster and smaller Time stamped files. There is now a set of new and improved Output file types, including a new best recommendation: Hardware accelerated MP4 file with AVC/H.264 encoded video. Time stamping is faster on most Intel based computers. Time stamped files are smaller (easier to send to clients and colleagues), and more compatible with other video software.

Time stamp just a small section of your large video file. If you only need a few minutes or seconds of time-stamped video from your lengthy video file, you don't have to wait for the whole file to be stamped - just select the start and end video frames and only that section will be stamped. This is a real time saver!

Burn in Time stamp and Burn in Metadata tools have been completely re-written for greater stability.

New 64 bit version. DVMP Pro 7 is now available as 64 bit and 32 bit versions for 64 and 32 bit editions of Windows. The new 64 bit version benefits from the extra memory available to 64 bit software in the 64 bit editions of Windows.

4K video (Ultra HD, 3840 x 2160) is now supported in the 64 bit version of DVMP Pro. HEVC encoded video is supported provided you have the popular third-party “LAV Filters” installed on your PC.

Improved location and extraction of date, time and other metadata from camera-original video files.

Support for GoPro Hero 5 Black and GoPro Hero 6 Black models' GPS data. You can now view and export the GPS information, and view the camera's route in the interactive Display Map tool.

Better extraction of date and time information from video files of Canon DSLR, Samsung and Sanyo cameras.

Improved support for Sony's "XAVC S" format, now including GPS data display and mapping.

Improved support for Portrait Oriented Video that is created by some smartphones.

Improved precision of GPS data in export tools and Display Map.

New improved Help system.

... and lots more minor tweaks and improvements.

New features from 6.0 to 6.3:

You can now get a time-stamped single frame image from anywhere in your video file. This is a real time saver if you just need a time-stamped image file for inclusion in a document or as an email attachment. You don't need to time-stamp the whole file, just drag the slider or frame-step until you see the frame you want then press Ctrl-S or Ctrl-C. For more details see Save Image or Copy Image to Clipboard.

Support in the Burn-in tools for Portrait Oriented Video that is created by some smartphones.

Support for the final retail version of Windows 10.

Improved accuracy of date and time display and time-stamping for MOV and MP4 files - e.g. files created by the latest iPhone. Previously, in files recorded by some cameras and smartphones the date and time was extracted in UTC (Greenwich Mean Time), so you had to use the Adjust Date and Time by feature to shift it to local time - that should no longer be necessary for files recorded by those cameras. Note that some devices that only store UTC time may still require use of the "Adjust Date and Time by" feature.

Support added for Sony's "XAVC S" format that is recorded into the MP4 file type.

Support added for "XDCAM-EX" format that is recorded into the MP4 file type.

Several minor bug fixes.

Welcome to DVMP Pro 6.

DVMP Pro provides the most comprehensive and reliable method of time-stamping your camcorder video files, or simply viewing the date and time they were recorded as you play them on your computer. You will see the original date and time of recording change in real-time and with frame accuracy.

You can also stamp or view other information such as the camera exposure settings or the GPS location when the recording was originally made. (The exact information will vary between camera models.)

You can choose to have the date and time (or other information) stamped permanently across the video frames, so that it will always be visible when you play or edit your files, or when you import them into your favorite DVD Authoring software. Or see the information instantly simply by playing the camera-original files in DVMP Pro - handy if you don't need a stamped file to be created and just need the information fast.

As a camcorder records a video file, the time, GPS location and exposure details will be continuously changing; so when you play the file DVMP Pro doesn't just show you a single set of values - you can see them change in real-time with frame-accuracy. You can watch the video clip and see exactly when and where a particular event occurred.

DVMP Pro also has a set of professional tools that include exporting date, time and other information; capturing video from DV (standard definition tape) camcorders; displaying GPS information on a map, and more.

DVMP Pro is useful in the investigation, security, military and forensics sectors where you need to know reliably when and where video files have been recorded, and when a particular recorded event happened.

The GPS features are also useful in geographic, marine and traffic surveying where you need to know where video was recorded to the nearest video frame.

The exact amount of information available will depend on the model of video camera/camcorder. Some features will not be available for some models - for example GPS and mapping features are not available if the camcorder is not equipped with a GPS unit.
