Using a frameserver between Premiere and TMPGEnc

Although most people recognise TMPGEnc's excellent encoding quality, and many are willing to put up with its long encoding times, it's sometimes not possible (and rarely if ever practical) to export your entire project to an AVI file and then load that file into TMPGEnc. Ideally TMPGEnc should be able to work as a plug-in to video editing programs, allowing the editor to export directly to MPEG2from the timeline. Unfortunately this is not possible, but there is a process that's close enough (as long as you're editing in Adobe Premiere version 5 or above): frame serving.

Configuring TMPGEnc for high-quality, DVD-compliant MPEG-2

The settings I will use in this guide are for DVD MPEG2 If you're encoding video for web distribution, VCD, SVCD, etc., you will need to make some changes. I have little experience with those formats, but if you do a quick search on the web you'll find several sites with information about them. Most of the advice and information in this guide applies to all MPEG formats and encoders, though.
