  2. I think you'll have a tough time emulating professional "Pan and Scan." Check this out: http://www.widescreen.org/index.shtml

If you're still up for it, I'm sure several suggestions will be posted for you. Good Luck!

    Hello,
You could try tmpgenc. Load the dvd template and insert your source file. Then go to the setting tab - select advanced - select full screen from [video arrange method].

Though I agree with Shocker Milwaukee, you won't get a "true" full screen out of it. I've watched dvd's on a computer with the full screen option in powerdvd. It automatically zooms in to the middle of the movie. So everything on the extreme left and right will be left out. (especially disturbing on the really wide 2.35:1 movies - like star wars, lord of the rings, etc...).

P.S. That is what "Pan and Scan" means. They actually slide the screen around to capture the key elements. Sometimes they'll cut straight to the left or right to focus on the speaker. That's why movie buffs like me only buy widescreen, even those of us with wimpy 25" non hdtv sets

my own preference involves playback. there are several dvd players, example, almost all panasonic's, which allow incremental zoom, in panny' case 1% increments. that way if you do have a widescreen film, espcially something like 2.35:1 on a smaller screen. you can zoom to say 120% and have a good compromise. Of course that is a playback option and perhaps not applicable to your situation.

You will loose about 1/3 of the picture by converting it to full screen, people will be cut out of a conversation and it will look horrible. As suggested, it's better to convert it to wide screen and then use the zoom on your player if you wish.
