Got one of these in a I/O magic box IDVD168DL from Staples for 19.99 after rebate. Flashed to to the newest PSOC firmware that has been modded. So far so good for a 20 dollar drive!!!

This writer has been great and I didn't expect much from it with the price I got it for at Wal-mart. I have been using Sony DVD-R 16X and went through over 100 disks now and not one bad burn. The software that I use is CloneDVD2 or Nero 7. Also Since I have been using Smartburn which is available from the liteon web site my burn speeds have increased. I am also using firmware version PS0B. I did have a problem burning onto Imation DVD+R 16X; none would play in my DVD player. I have also used Imation DVD+RW and Verbatim DVD+R DL all with success.

Works great on Verbatim 16X +R or -R dics. Having some problems, however, on Windata 2.4 X +R DL discs. Haven't tried any other DL discs. Any suggestions?

My Lite-On SHW-160P6S I bought at walmart started burning slower after about 2 weeks,Using latest firmware, The first few burns at 16x only took 5 or 6 mins to burn a full dvd and now for no reason it is taking about as long as my old 4x burner about 10 minutes @ a 16x burn speed single layer, I'm thinking about taking it back and getting it replaced becuase I havn't changed one single thing in my computer and it started taking longer for no aparent reason using the same media.I did have one failed burn but it was from a disk to disk copy and the disk i was trying to copy was bad. So i guess it works fine but just shouldn't take that long at a 16x burn speed. At first it was fast but now it is slow.

Verbatim DVD 16x and Verbatim DVD 4X disks burned fine but would not play in Apex AD-1110W Player. UPGRADE firmware from PSO8 to PSOA and corrected problem.

Firmware version 0A upgrade needed in order to burn RiData DVD+R 8x media. You can get it at www.liteonit.com

Great burner - limited use so far - this was bought at Comp-USA as a Hi-Val HDVD168DL - works fine with good media
