Bought 100 of these infiniti dvd-r before got about 75 to burn correctly at x4. Each pack had a few duffs!
There were also chips around the edges and they look like they have been banged around a bit. Regardless of this most burnt ok.

I then bought another 100 and most of them are having probs completing the burn sequence. I have opened 2 packs of 25 so far and all i get is the error "Focus or tracking error"

I have tried everything:

have tried all firmware versions (301,302,303,304)
4 different versions of nero right up to the latest version.

Have removed service pack 2 for windows xp and tried at the only 2 burn speeds it will allow (x2 , x4)

I keep getting the error "Focus or tracking error"

I have researched this prob quite thoroughly and it is supposed to be a 90% hardware problem. The problem has since got worse and i get the error about ten seconds into the burn. Its very confusing as the infiniti disks currently keep giving me the error.
The strange thing is! The burner still allows me to burn with another 2.4x Disk which is a TDK DVD+RW 4.7gb. I can burn over and over again with this disk!!

Is my burner on the way out or is it the media that is shite????

I am going to try and get some Traxdata dvd-r x4 tommorow. (as recommended by viewers of this site!!) If i still have problems burning with these new Traxdata disks I will be convinced that it is a hardware failure and that will mean that my hardware is on its way out (or the laser, anyway!)

If the new Traxdata DVD-R work ok, THEN I WILL NEVER BUY THESE DISKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Havn't tried the +r OR +rw disks so i cant comment on them!!

I have had my lg GSA-4040 for approx 12 months i have read other cases of their unit giving up after roughly this length of time.

I have six days left on warranty WOOHOO!!
