Thanks to Tim Star:

with no disk in the player press:
Setup, Vol+, Vol-, Vol+, Vol-

in the right upper corner a current region code would appear. You could
switch between 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 255 using Right and Left buttons. 255 is muti-
region.

This hack also works for the Norcent DP 313. Player currently available at
Best Buy. Also check Wal-Mart and BrandsMart USA

First off, the above region hack by earlg5 worked like a charm on my Norcent 315. Now the 2 DVDs I bought in Japan (~$40 ea.) are viewable once again. Thanks a ton!

I noticed that once you get to the point where you can change the region code in above region hack, hit the up (or down) arrow once, and you should see '3001'. Now, left/right arrows goes between '3001' and '3000'. I haven't verified anything yet, but from checking out some other hacks, it looks like setting it on '3000' might just turn off Macrovision. I'm not sure though.

I will verify this once I get a chance. Someone else feel free to tell your experience. I'll need to play around a bit to see exactly how the player behaves with '3001' vs. '3000'.

Serial number : LEC1042117997
Made in China , Q2 , 2004

My steps:
1. Power on without disc ( Orange Norcent screen )
2. Press "Setup" ( Blue setup screen )
3. Press "Vol+" ( Goes back to orange screen and said "NO DISC" )
4. Press "Vol-" ( same as 3 )
5. Press "Vol+" ( same as 3 )
6. Press "Vol-" ( same as 3 )

The above hack does "NOT" work for my Norcent DP 315 from staples. Anyone has an idea ? Thanks !

The hack works. With NO disc in the player, press:
- Setup
- Vol+, Vol-, Vol+, Vol-, repeat if necessary

In the right upper cornera a current region code would appear, in my case "1" for USA. You could switch between 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 255 using Right and Left Arrow buttons. 255 is Muti-region. Up and Down Arrow buttons for Macrovision 3000/3001 (not tested because I currently use Decrypter and Shrink to handle this).

This hack also works for my other player, Coby DV-224, recently bought, April 05)

For those who claimed that this does not work, double check the buttons you are pressing. The VOL+ and VOL- buttons can be easily confused with the menu RIGHT/LEFT directional buttons. The VOL+ and VOL- buttons are small round buttons below the RIGHT/LEFT direction buttons.

For the people who could not get this hack to work. Be sure to look carefully at your screen. I almost missed the little number '1' that came up to show me the current region after entering the specified keys.

^All the above hacks don't work for my Norcent Dp 315 dvd player. I just bought a Norcent Dp315 dvd player today cause it was on sale and cheap :D. Just for fun!. Well, I tried doing all the suggested hacks for this player but it turned out to be useless for me. My serial date is "MFG Q1 2005". The hack that i used to make the dvd player region free was the same code I used on my Accura Advd3838w/Citizen JD3838 DVD player which i've bought in July of 2004.
Instruction for Norcent DP-315 player:
1. Open Tray
2. Press 9-7-3-5
It's that simple

No more stupid Vol - Vol + crap.

Good luck! I've tested and it works fine.
PS. This hack should work for all the New Norcent DP 315 and maybe even the old ones too :d

None of the technique mentione on this hack forum worked..With Vol+/ - I could at least see and change 1 to 255. After changing to 255 some of the DVD from USA do not work..Had to change back to 1.

Tried using the various hacks...try try again, no joy. Was using the Remote
from my Norcent DP-302. Then I put batteries in the remote for the DP-315.
Switching remotes made all the difference.

After switching remotes, used the first hack on the page and it worked to play
a Region 2 disc on the first try:

with no disk in the player press:
Setup, Vol+, Vol-, Vol+, Vol-

in the right upper corner a current region code would appear. You could
switch between 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 255 using Right and Left buttons. 255 is muti-
region.

Region Free and 3000/3001 hack.

Hack as reported by biff, December 10 2004 above worked on my DP-315 purchased in 2004. DVD labeled PAL 2/4 and CP Macrovision now plays perfectly after applying settings of 255 and 3000.

Pressing the Menu button without a disc in followed by 1 and 9 worked successfully. Both the picture and the sound work well.

HELP!
Region code hack posted by kevin, October 20 2005:
turn on the dvd player with no disc in it press setup go to preference set up and you can change it to pal multi or ntsc

I couldn't change from NTSC to PAL!!! :((( There's no choices in menu. Could you give me step-by-step directions how to find this option? This player been brought in Europe and I can get only BW picture on PAL screen.
Vol+/- hack worked and 3000/3001 too.
Player manufactured Q3 2004. One more question. Back panel shows 110V. Can this player work with 220 V without transformers? My old Norcent (300?) looks almost same (only without Progressive scan) and worked 110-240V, hacked to ALL and easy changed from NTSC to PAL. I expected same from 315. I'll appreciate any help.
