Hitachi C14D24 Argos DVD/Telly. I was looking for a hack for the Hitachi C14D24 DVD/Telly combo as annoyed I have to buy region one often when no region two available and we spend hundreds £s a year on DVDs (and our other four DVD players/recorder are multi-region). I did the following: DVD tray open, remote selected to DVD, press TIME (button below the blue button), enter the menu and go to language setup, press 0. The screen then flashes up 'defaults loaded'. The player now seems to play all the region 0, 1 and 2 DVD's I can find, plus all our recorded TV DVD-Rs as before. Note that when I repeated the sequence nothing happens (fortunately as I want it to stay multiregion - so haven't tried any other 'region number' than 0). I'm also not 100% sure of the details as it happened quickly, but if not exactly I did something very like it and I was noting down the details. Hope it helps. My multiregion hack stays when TV off/on. If it works for you please post confirmation. | |||

Another forum user has reported my hack sadly doesn't work. My Hitachi C14D24 DVD TV/Combo player is now fully region free (it was a ruthless region 2). I changed it in the setup menu [TIME button - DVD drawer open], but as I mentioned I can't remember exactly what I did. So it must be in there somewhere. As I remember the words 'defaults loaded' coming up, I wonder if it was under preferences, load defaults? But I didn't write that down at the time (and I was scribbling what I did onto paper then). I really don't want to lose my region free by messing about, but if you are stuck in region two with many legally bought region 1 discs in your collection try that TIME button menu, it's in there somewhere. Good luck and God bless. |
