I'm trying to add a few home made subtitles ( in .bmp format) to an AVI file in VirtualDub using the Logo 1.7b2 filter.
If I use the 'Blending' feature and Smart Rendering, I can cut down on the recoding of the file (only the time the filter is invoked above the zero level counts towards encoding).
The problem is that I cannot use multiple instances of the filter in one session as only the original image shows on the curve editor.
I have to save the file then re-open and add another instance - which is taking too long.
Could AviSynth be used to insert a logo on certain frames and not recode the entire movie (two hours running time with a dozen logos/subs)

  2. Whenever you use avisynth, you have to re-encode

So unless you process it in segments (some with and some without avisynth), you'll be re-encoding it all

Thank you - I had feared that was the case.

I just tried it with multiple instances of that logo filter and had no problems.

Thank you, I didn't know there was a drop down selection menu associated with the Curve Editor until I saw your screenshot - until I resized the window.

I finished the project - sometimes the base line would slightly jump off the zero level and I wouldn't notice until saving the output, where it would try to recode long stretches of the video.

    ...Regards, RB.
