I have been using XmediaRecode for a while now to convert DVDs to MP4/MKV format. Easy to set up, batch encodes, copies AC3 audio into the MP4 container. What more could you want ?
Well, it would be nice if recent updates worked. The scores I have given are for version 2.3.0.9. I have tested the subsequent versions (up to and including 2.3.2.5), and they all crash out when attempting to encode from ripped DVDs. 2.3.0.9 happily encodes the same rips without any problems. Hopefully the author can get things back on track, but for now, stick with the older version if you want a solid, reliable encoder. |
