Agreed, it's way over his/her head - a lazy person who didn't value powerful tools or the end results. I have been using Avisynth successfully for YEARS to do really nice/hard jobs by applying filters to video in various ways - eg to SUBSTANTIALLY cleanup home video, or VHS captures, or 8mm captures. This is truly a GIANT amongst tools (albeit it works with the help of lots of free 3rd party filters... head on over to doom9 to see it discussed in alive forums). No other free tool comes even close to its versatility and sheer power to adjust video content. So many free actively-developed filters to choose from ! Use a stable released version, though, eg 2.5.7(MT).
Avisynth enables you to do things with video which you wouldn't believe. This example gives you some idea of what type of video cleanup is possible http://www.vimeo.com/2823934
Although, it is not a tool to go into without a willingness to learn and "have a go". Even I could pick up the scipting with the plentiful examples available and the fantastic help available via "pros" always willing to lend advice and assistance on the forums. I would be totally lost without this truly magnificent free tool. Crikey, it's a keeper. |
