Software: DVD Shrink
User review: THIS SOFTWARE IS FANTASTIC, SUPERB, MAGNIFICENT, EXCELLENT! The tool is so powerful. I have compressed an 8GB DVD including all the features, menus, and it gave me an auto-compression of 53%, but the output is still very much acceptable. I know that if I will just get the main movie, it will be much better. I have a 43" Sony Digital Projection TV, and eventhough the output quality was degraded, a 53% compression is not bad at all. This tool is very flexible, perfect for users who wishes to select the features of a DVD to be retained. Some people do not want menus or interviews or special features. They just want to watch the main movie. But if you want to retain it, you have the option, you just have to sacrifice some resolution. For me, while the blank DVD9s are not yet available on the market, I can live with this, that's why I am temporarily using a DVD+RW.

This software worked for me using DVD Decrypter(excellent software) for ripping, then compress it with DVD Shrinker, and burn with CopyToDVD. You may use NERO, RecordNow, or any other burning software of your choice.

For me, DVDXCopy is not acceptable. Very elementary, not giving you options what to get and discard, meaning you have to leave with the output, besides the fact that it is very expensive, in comparison to these bundle of excellent softwares which are FREE! The best things in life are FREE!!!

I have used DVD Decrypter (wrote comments on it) to backup my Home DVDs. EXCELLENT! HEAVEN-SENT! and free...

System : P4 2.4GHz, 512MB RAM, 64MB ATI Radeon GC, 40GB HD.

Tip: Give your HD some time to defrag from time to time, if you frequently use your PC with different applications, especially if you are saving and deleting files. But if you are just ripping GBs of files and deleting it at once after burning, no need to defrag since files are accessing the same HD location, thus not creating fragmented files.

Thanks to the author of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrinker. Perfect Combination.
