This post is more about scratches on media. I read on CDfreaks.com a couple of years ago about a product called Plexus (http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/plexus.html). I ordered a couple of cans and after having used it on both DVD's and CD's that were basically unreadable/unplayable with either my Samsung combo drive or Plextor DVD writer, regardless of the software utilized, just one application and voila - I was able to successfully read the media without any errors. This stuff doesn't work miracles, but when you rent videos that look like they've been used as an ice skating rink, this product can come in handy. Besides, the video store is getting back their DVD in better shape than it was before I rented it.
I usually use DVDDecryter (last version) first and if it has problems with either the protection or scratches, I then use DVDFab Decrypter. |
