I find a lot of my older 720p/1080p xvid encodes still look excellent upscaled on a 4k TV, while the so called superior format H264/MKV's look like crap. It depends on the TV, but I tried out some 4k TV's as a test e.g LG, Hitachi and Samsung and all HD vids looked poorer quality than the Xvids. Both formats however look fine on 1080p TV's. This 4k is designed for perfect sources e.g H265,AV1 only and is not as forgiving as 2k TV's for other formats. |
