If you simply want to encode/transcode, don't want to fuss, and think that yadif, for example, is terrific, then by all means use HandBrake. I recommend it for light tasks to produce videos most people find pleasing to the eye and ear.
If you simply want to remux or trim video or adjust audio timing, for example, then by all means use MKVToolNix. It's very easy to use and results are more than okay. I use it myself for simple things.
But if you want to do heavy tweeking and understand all/most of the parameters for FFmpeg/AviSynth/VapourSynth/InterFrame/SVP/etc. and you want to generate 60fps (or 120fps) that's judder- alias- comb-free without yucky telecine/deinterlacing/decombing filters, then this is the tool that frontends to all the most powerful video tools. But be warned: beyond a terse help window on the right side, Hybrid will not teach you how to 'fix' DVD and Blu-ray movies that have been molested by video authors. What it will do is form working command lines for the wrapped tools that it includes so you don't have to remember those command lines and their changing/evolving formats. In other words, Hybrid is a tool integrator, not a replacement. |
