I posted earlier that by downloading the latest version of MMC (8.8 at the time) extended the life of my 8500DV.
Well, using 8.9 just shortened it. MPEG-4 capture is nice, but other programs have a hard time encoding it--not to mention that ATI's once-legendary deinterlacing seems to have been broken. Interlaced MPEG-4 captures are all but unwatchable; if it weren't for the fact that the end result is destined for DVD, I wouldn't even bother with it.
I think I will be uninstalling MMC 8.9 (yeah, that's a good one) very soon and replacing it with Snapstream BeyondTV unless ATI does a VERY rapid fix of MMC. |
