I use other software for my encoding needs but got really excited when read that VirtualDub has the Smart Rendering feature. Unfortunately, it turns out that at least for now it's completely useless. Supposedly, certain posts suggested that when it's enabled you can do a "Stream Copy" and it will save your cut clip by just rendering the cut points but in reality it completely ignores your cuts. So, then I tried using export but regardless of whatever codec I selected from the list an error pops up "Smart Rendering failed to initialize, the selected codec can be used to compress media but compression of original can't be matched" or something very similar to that effect. When looked for explanation and any workarounds all I found was people asking about the problem but no fix. It's a real shame but do hope this will get fixed in the future. |
