Since I changed computer in January 2019 PotPlayer stopped working properly. The problem was/is that with certain movie files, especially with "Interstellar 2014 IMAX BluRay 1080p AVC DTS-HD MA 5.1 x264-MgB [ETRG].mkv", the sound saturates/clips heavily when that didn't happened before (Q9400 win10 x64 to R5 1600 Win10 x64, same soundcard).
Tried every sound setting possible, of course including lowering volumes, wav volume, mixer volumes, and all other volume settings in preferences, also audio rendering, etc.
Well, last night I found the "problem" with one setting somehow I didn't tried before.
I have it on spanish so names can be different to the way I name them, but in settings or preferences -> audio decoding -> audio codec (through output) and change in DTS the "FFmpegMinimum64.dll" which is the recommended to "OpenCodeUnity64.dll(libDCA)" (did the same with AC3 just in case and I will see the rest). Then just lowering PotPlayer volume, as long as the volume method is the predetermined, to 65 seems to be enough or in settings -> audio -> first tab "mixer level" lowering all to 40%. Every other way (wav, individual volume in volume control) doesn't seem to do anything in the sense that the clipping will still be there even when the volume is lower. |
