User review: I've tried several version of this, mainly going to x264/MKV and XviD/AVI. x264 encoding seems fine, and encodes a 1080p TS file to 720p at around the same as other apps I use (about 40-50fps). XviD though is extremely slow. With other apps I can convert a 1080p or 720p TS file to 624x352 using XviD at around 130fps on the first pass and 100fps on the second, yet this encodes the same files using the same settings at around 40fps on the first and only 10fps on the second. It took nearly 90 minutes to encode a 32 minute 720p file to 352p file and yet it's using 6 threads just like the other apps and 100% CPU and they take only a few minutes. Something's not right there at all.

As to the app itself, the GUI and layout is pretty good. Rather than loads of tabs for different options, the different options here are set under a drop down list and the interface changes accordingly. I didn't at first get why any changes to the audio would stick, but then realised I had to highlight the stream in the stream list, which is done in case there are multiple streams and you want different settings for each. There are loads of presets there for different devices, but personally I prefer to do all my own settings. If the really slow XviD encoding is sorted then this would be one I would use a lot more often. Overall, pretty good, and so far no bad encodings or crashes.
