doom9 DVD-9 -> 2 DVD±R using IFOEDIT

If a DVD-9 is smaller than 2 DVD-5s, why not simply split up a movie and put it onto 2 DVD-Rs? Well, for quite a while that couldn't be done but thanks to IfoEdit and WZ_man from my forum it's now possible. IfoEdit 0.89 has added an automatic split feature so if you read this guide before chances are you will see something completely different ;) This guide is based on a document by Derrow.

doom9 DVD to XviD using Gordian Knot

XviD is the latest MPEG-4 codec and the first true open source one. Once finished it will be released under the GPL license. In a recent codec comparison I found that XviD gives surprisingly good results despite the early alpha status.

doom9 DVDMaestro DVD Authoring

Maestro is one of the truly professional DVD authoring applications. As Scenarist it's hard to get without a full DVD workstation (which basically would be a high end computer that you can probably get on your own for a much lower price) plus a high quality MPEG-2 encoder card with interfaces for studio grade input.
