	VCD playing ability Open tray, press 110 on remote control, "NO VCD" shows. VCD is not playable. Open tray, press 119 on remote control, "HAVE VCD" shows. VCD is playable now.

	This hack was not originally intended for Coby DVD-223, but for the Sampo DVE612. Nevertheless, I have to wholeheartedly thank the folks at http://www.area450.com/hacks/regionhack.htm for coming up with it. See following quote, and happy hacking ! " Power up your player and turn on your TV Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on your remote control once Key in 3, 3, 0, 8, 8, 0 immediately: "R0" will now appear briefly on the TV screen in the bottom left hand corner. The DVE612(N) is slightly more informative, advising you that "REGION NO : 0" on the TV screen. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on your remote control once Power down your player - this retains the all-region setting forever ! RCE discs appear to playback without any problem. It is also possible to render single-region playback on the player by changing the number at the end of the sequence : e.g. for just Region 1 playback the sequence is 3, 3 ,0, 8, 8, 1 ("R1" appears on the screen) for just Region 2 playback, the sequence is 3, 3, 0, 8, 8, 2 ("R2" appears on the screen) and so on. Note that you need to run the entire sequence (i.e. including the power on/off and open/close routine) each time you want to change the region"

	Coby DVD-223 player hack (Note this is slightly different from the previous note because the COBY player doesn't allow you to enter the number sequence when the tray is open and it also doesn't display the "R0" at the end to indicate success. Don't worry though, this will remove Region code restrictions) Power up your player and turn on your TV Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on your remote control once, then CLOSE the tray with the same button. Key in 3, 3, 0, 8, 8, 0 When you key each number you will see a "_" character appear in the upper left portion of the screen. Press the OPEN/CLOSE button on your remote control once more and the CLOSE the tray with the same button. Power down your player. When you power it up again it will be set to multi-region, in other words it will automatically play DVDs from all Regions without you having to do anything else!

	I just purchased the CobyDVD223 from 'The Wherehouse' for $39 w/$20m.i.r. and it has this firmware:Z11-XQ-M None of the codes work on this machine and it doesn't play vcd's, though with a little experimenting I found that with no disc inserted you can hit "2" numerous times to get a "on" and allow vcd playback and do the same with "1" to turn it "off". If someone comes up with the region free code, you are my hero.Thanks in advance!

	I have the same problem as the last poster. None of the hacks posted work. Please, if someone finds it, let me know. My old dvd player, which I had dezoned successfully, died, and now I find myself with a whole collection of Region 2 dvd's that I can't play! Pleeeeze, all the hackers out there, help!

	Thanks to Littled, whom I can't thank enough (I've waited months for this), this hack does work: <<1. Turn DVD player ON 2. Ensure the lid of the player is CLOSED and EMPTY 3. Press the numbers 5, 7, 8, 9 using the remote control supplied with the player Your DVD player should now be region-free>> I'd like to add that after you enter those numbers, the digit "9" stays on the upper left side of the screen to indicate that your dvd player is now region-free. Thanks a million, Littled! Thanks to you I'm not "Frustrated" any more.

	SVCD/VCD Hack 1. Power on player 2. Ensure that disc tray is closed and empty 3. Press 2222. The word ON appears on hte top left corner of your TV screen. Bingo your dvd player should play VCD.
