I found this program very slick, it crashed on my Windows7 but work like a charm on vista converting mkv files to avi in full glory AC3 and HD xvid. As my old media player is so fussy with avi files. I was looking for this kind of tools in the past I had to make do with a boring WMA format as a workarround. One thing I like is the speed at which can process the files and the bigger the files its just gobbles them up and spits them it out and still says Job complete. Nice one..

Nice and powerful tool, quite easy to use and without negative surprise with the converted video. Sadly, the website is not accessible without adding yet another plugin, you can't even download the program itself - luckily the link here does the trick.

Very nice program with notorious functionality. And it's free. Thumbs up! Only con (that's why I don't give it an overall 10) is the author's homepage. It's not accesible with Firefox, but insists on Silverlight (am I the only one experiencing this?). Good thing you can download the releases on Videohelp.

Never mind. I reinstalled it and it works better than the previous version. Now there are more settings for getting it just right, especially anything in black and white

For some strange reason the latest version is not including the subs when selected.

As easy as can be for a noob. Load file, select encoding preset and encode. For an advanced user-the flexibility is unlimited. with the E buttons you can modify selected presets (except device specific ones)to custom presets. If you look into subfolders of the installation, you can easily figure out the way to make your own presets. You can also tweak the avisynth parameters with AvsP. Its x264 presets are excellent (they can be modified to a custom preset, you can add presets as well). Last but not the least, it is the only xvid encoder i have seen which comes with a long list of custom matrices that you can use and you can add your own, if your favorite isn't in the list. x264 has had major upgrades during the last month. Hope XviD4PSP is upgraded to latest x264 soon with additional presets to take advantage of upgrades in x264

Very, very good image quality for the x264 encoded files! Handled motion areas very well, with plenty accuracy and sharpness. It worked just fine on my Vista 64 machine. It bakes the processor (Core 2 quad) a little bit but I guess that's what x264 encoding does... Big thank you to the developer, this combination of Avisynth and x264 cli is a huge success!

How can I crash you--Let me count the ways----Crashes when trying to open a dvd folder---I did do a test encode on a small ts file...Anytime you want to change options, you have to close the program and reload files..For some reason it keeps all the previous open info and wont change the profile settings--Not worth messing with..

Doesn't work when choosing another temp directory as the one proposed at startup. Often stops with our even without a reasonable error message. Nice idea but unfortunately very buggy and thus not usable.

my ****favorite**** encoder for my bluray ;) very very good and excellent !

This one crashes right as it attempts to open a file.

Can't complain except a lack of what feature can this do, etc. The worst thing about it is even with everything up to date ABR mp3's are always out of sinc but AC3 copies work fine.

Finally - an all-in-one tool that perfectly converts the native .ts files captured from a Hauppauge HD-PVR to MKV. Plays back perfectly in my TVIX 6500. I haven't experienced any crashing problems as mentioned by some. Absolutely great piece of software. Don't be fooled by the name - it is capable of so much more than XVID for PSP.

Useless, keeps crashing. If this thing worked, it would be an unbelievable piece of software.

After using tons of converters and encoders, I stumbled upon this tool and I absolutely love it (the name originally confused me but this does waaay more than Xvid for PSP). You can convert to a whole bunch of containers and codecs from individual files or from a DVD folder. Conversion is fast (well, the actual conversion is done by x264 or other native codec binary, so it is as fast as the original codec is), and settings are plenty. I really like the control this tool offers over the whole conversion process. Also, the ability to pass-through (copy) audio/video without reencoding is pretty sweet as well. Fairly stable so far as well. Definitely recommended if you've been using tools like Mediacoder, AutoMKV, AutoGK or other DVD/Video converter tools.

Nice tool I use to to encode DVDs for my iPod Touch. 1 click or full control over encodes for power users. Make sure to have the latest version of .NET to avoid problems like previous posters.

I didn't have much luck with this. It crashed a lot and it had issues remembering the resolution settings I wanted. Also,it can't encode with DivX.

I'm not sure why this tool is called XviD4PSP, as it will convert just about anything to just about anything. I have been using this to convert 720p MKV files to HD Xvid (720p, 2 pass) and it works perfectly. There are pre-defined profiles you can use, or you can set up your own, with control over the most minor of codec settings. It's maybe not suitable for the complete video "noob", but those who want complete control over their conversions will like this...

The previous version was better but this version crashes almost every time. If you need a stable version of this software use the previous one. The crashes hurt this software more than anything else.

The program is pretty easy to use. Easier than some. This is the only program that was able to successfully create a 720x480 H.264/AVC MP4 file that will playback on my PSP. This was after trying CloneDVD Mobile and finding that it wouldn't work at that resolution. Definately feature filled.

Very nice and powerful tool, has many settings + preview of the video, work great with my ipod.

This application is very useful and does its job fairly well. It's as simple as choosing your media file and clicking encode. I do have a couple of gripes though. I like GUIs that are organized and make it easy to find everything you're looking for which XviD4PSP does not accomplish. Also, after I installed RC2 it would crash every time I tried to execute it. I had to uninstall XviD4PSP and reinstall it without launching after each respective installation. All in all though, it works now and you can't find a better program for converting your videos to a suitable format for your portable devices.

Great piece of software, only thing that lets it down it you cannot choose the image from the film to use as the thumb nail. Apart from that excellent.
