If only I had found this forum sooner!
I have been using Studio 9 now for a while, and am reasonable satisfied with it, but find myself "outgrowing" it, but my budget will not allow for me to purchase one of the higher end products. One of the logical things to do is to "upgrade"
Wow...what a mistake.
I went to Pinnacle sight and shopped. Actually called the support number to ensure that I was purchasing the correct upgrade for what I wanted to do and had them walk me through the purchase. I was elated while I waited on my upgrade to download.
I launched the installer and lo and behold, the file that I downloaded was NOT an upgrade to 12, but instead a plugin upgrade. I again contaced sales support, and they insure me that event he file name that I download was correct, but it was the wrong file...they send me to technical support.
I follow all the trouble shooting steps, all the while telling the robot on the other end of the phone...you hooked me up with the wrong file. He assures me that there has been an error, and that he would escalate it.
24 hours later...I'm setting without a product that I paid to download. I call back and wait on hold for them to tell me that the ETA is another 48 hours. But wait...it gets better.
I wait another 12 hours and call back. I get another person who instructs me that they will cancel the original order, which will close my trouble ticket, but I can simply re-purchase, and then download the correct file. In the back of my mind I know this is fundementally a bad idea...but what do I have to lose. So, they process the cancellation and refund, tell me that it's complete...and to go ahead and re-order. I actually have them tell me exactly what to select to get the upgrade, not the plugin! They walk me through the process....and guess what.
You got it...I got the plugin file again. So I ask for a refund....which they gladly refund the download price, but inform me that the back up DVD has already shipped, so they can not refund me that amount. When we get to looking, I'm not getting two copies of the backup DVD...which I'm stuck with. I can't get the correct file to upgrade, but have upgrade disks in the mail totalling 30 bucks....which I will never use.
I throw a fit...and they agree to escalate to the refunds department who promptly send me a URL for an agrement to destroy the disks. Funny thing is, the only option on the page is "decline".
So my suggestion to you is this. STAY AWAY...Pinnacle needs to rename itself to BOZO THE CLOWN software company. |
