I have recently begun the task of creating DVDs, mostly home videos so far.
I have yet to find one comprehensive package, and this product isn't it either.
For capturing I use PlextorGoCap. (My Plextor PX-TV402U PVR recorder came with an OEM version of InterVideo's WinDVR. That package would have been perfect for capturing except it would only schedule once and then have to be uninstalled and reinstalled to work again. I bought the commercial version of WinDVR and it wouldn't work at all with my Plextor. Kudos (a little) to InterVideo at least for refunding my money. I also purchased Roxio's package with VideoWave but don't like it. In the end I settled for the primitive but highly functional GoCap.)
For editing I use "Video Edit Magic v4.2". I love this tool and VERY highly recommend it.
For authoring and rendering I use Pinnacle Studio Plus. My only issue with this package is how EXTREMELY slow it is rendering.
It took the package 9 HOURS - yes HOURS - 540 MINUTES to render a 42 minute video. On average nearly 13 minutes per minute.
I know I'm at the current patch level of the current release on a very beefed system and am bothered by this seemingly excessive render times. |
