If you like to edit your movies DO NOT get this product. If you want to save your MOVIES to DVD, SVCD, etc... then this tool will just transfer the movie and that is it. The other functions will you allow you to edit the movie but the rendering is crap as well as the burning. Buyer BEWARE!!!
I worked with their tech support and they told me to shut off everything in the background and also provided me freeware to shut down even more programs in the background. I had to shut off the wall paper as well. It was short of uninstalling everything off my computer except the operating system and the pinnacle software (at one point I did a fresh install of just the operating system (XP) and the pinnacle software and it still didn't work and that is when tech support gave up.
I have a P4 3.0 Gig with Hyperthreading, 1 G dual channel 400 RAM. SATA 120 G HD dedicated just to the video editing, Intel 875 board with a 9800 ATI pro card. I think this should be enough computer to handle the software but it still had problems. When the software renders it gets jumpy and the audio and video becomes out of sync.
To make matters worse the rebate for this product they would not honor because they said it was sent to the wrong place. I scanned the envelope of where the letter was addressed to and sent it back to them and they said the rebate time frame has passed now!!! wow what a bunch of %#$%$#!@ is that? I was so sick of this product and the company I returned my software and a letter explaining the disappointment to their complaints department and have not heard from them...
this is the last product that I wil ever purchase from them... upgrade? You got to be kidding me... why waste my money...
I got Sonicfoundary Vegas 4 and I have yet to crash it and the outcome is excellent. the product is very buggy and i felt sorry for the tech support group because they have to support an crap products the developers created.
