I need to split a 24G mp4 file so I can upload/download it more reliably. I was about to pay for a commercial program bandycut but the trial program is so crippled I can't make it work. I moved on and found losslesscut.
It is not designed to split a file quickly, so you have to specify the cut points (on key frames) and then export the segments. At first it gave me an error. After some test I found I have to select .mov as output format to make it work. Doesn't make sense but it works and is free. I think the output segments are lossless but have not verified. I did verify the cut segments play seamlessly across boundaries when placed in a video editor. |
