I have a desktop video recorder Panasonic DMR-E50 burning
DVD-RAM media.
With TMPGEnc Author and a Super DVD drive from Iomega, I managed to read directly the DVD_RTAV directory of the DVD-RAM. TMPGEnc recognizes and import separatly the recordings.
It allows some trimming (not at frame but at GOP level. It means about one second of precision when cutting).
After, you can set up a menu if you want, and burns a DVD (any type).
TMPGEnc finalizes the DVD.
The audio Dolby AC3 is correctly transferred along the video MPEG-2.
The Panasonic DMR-E50 accepts to read a so created DVD-R, or even a DVD-RW.
It "sees" it as a DVD-V. Thus if you use a DVD-RW, you can reuse it when you are tired of the content,
and don't want to keep the recording anymore...
Just one minus: there is a short (1/4 sec) pause where you cut some sequence, but only when playing on the Panasonic, not when playing on the PC. I suppose the Panasonic drive is not fast
enough....
