TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 Version 5.0.5.32 - February 24, 2011
Corrected (Importation) The MPEG-4 AVC decoder would not correctly decode when there were 16 reference frames of data.
The VFAPI file reader could not correctly retreive the audio and/or video when several instances were used.
The AVI file reader no longer uses some of the ACM codecs that would cause a buffer overrun.
Can now import MPEG-2 TS files that some software generates without Access Unit Delimiter.
Can now import the LATM AAC audio format included in WTV files.
Correctly recognizes the bitrate from MPEG-2 Video streams with a broken or garbage-filled header.
Does not hang-up when importing corrupted AVC streams through the standard decoder.
Corrected (Output) In some cases, DVD-Video MPEG file output would output a GOP longer than the DVD-Video standard requirements.
In some cases, the Blu-ray MPEG file output's maximum GOP size value would be lower than the Blu-ray standard limit.
MPEG-4 (AVC) file output's YUV colorspace settings would sometimes be incorrect.
An error would occur in MPEG-4 (AVC) file output when moving to the Format stage while the first clip of a project would require setting values out of the Level 4.1 range.

* From now on, if the project header clip's characteristics require Level 4.1 or higher, the encoder settings are automatically rounded to Level 4.1 compliance. (ex.: In case of a 1920×1080 59.94p clip -upon applying Double framerate filter-, the encoder setting will be 1920×1080 30p. *Note you can manually change the Level and then set any arbitrary value.)

When using the Intel Media SDK or the SpursEngine for the MPEG-4 (AVC) file output in interlace display mode, the resulting framerate would be seen as double than what it should be.
When outputting in an MPEG related format, the encoder's Performance setting would sometimes reset to its default value if the Output multiplexer setting was changed from System (Video + Audio) to ES (Video + Audio) and then changed back to System (Video + Audio).
Corrected (Other) An error would occur when applying the CUDA version of the Precision video denoise filter on a clip with an original or resized specific size.
Subtitle playback timing and other related settings would become incorrect upon cut-editing a part where a scrolling effect was set in the Subtitles filter.
Mobile and portable device MPEG file output template folder name contained invalid characters.
Other corrections.

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 Version 5.0.3.29 - February 17, 2011
Improved MPEG-4 AVC (x264) encoder updated.
Added aspect ratio to the MPEG-4 AVC output (12:11 / 10:11 / 16:11 / 40:33 / 24:11 / 20:11 / 32:11 / 80:33 / 4:3 / 3:2 / 2:1) *Available aspect ratio options depend on the selected encoder.
Thumbnail creation for PSP added to the output. (Added in the "Other" tab of the Mobile/portable device MPEG file, MEPG-4 (AVC) file output, MKV file output, and MPEG file output templates.)
iPod/iPhone, etc. named chapter support. (Use the "Edit the keyframe name" option added to the Clip editor window's Cut-edit stage or Slideshow editor window's Preview stage's chapter list contextual menu.)
Demultiplexing of MPEG-2 AAC audio multiplexed in a MP4 container has been added to the MPEG Tools.
When outputting in MPEG-4 (AVC) or MKV, the source aspect ratio is automatically used as the encoder's default aspect ratio.
Maximum bitrate setting added to the SpursEngine output in VBR mode. Following this correction, a warning appears when the maximum bitrate in VBR mode is 1.5× larger than the average bitrate.
Added a "Clear history" contextual menu option in the Start window's Project history list.
Added an encode progress display in the application's task bar icon when reduced.
Blur option added to the Text's border effects in the timeline.
When importing an MPEG-2 video, gets a more precise displayed average bitrate in the Video properties window.
Added an "Apply a low-pass filter on the color channels" option in the SpursEngine file output template. (Enabled by default, disabling this option may reduce the outputted picture quality but increases the encoding process speed.)
Corrected (Importation) An error preventing the importation would occur when pointing the source to a specific BDAV data structure.
Updated the standard MPEG-4 AVC decoder, resolving the issues below:

* An insufficient memory error would occur when navigating through the content of an MPEG-4 AVC source encoded into a specific method;
* Some specific data would yield different results than the reference decoder;
* The recognized framerate would be double the actual framerate and prevent correct playback when importing some specific MP4 files;
* Video would not display correctly when importing AVC video from an M2TS file through the standard decoder;
* Audio noise would occur when importing some MOV files containing MPEG-4 AVC video and Linear PCM audio.

Reduced the TS reader memory usage. This should help avoid the appearance of an "Insufficient memory" warning when editing.
Appropriately imports files without trying to use Picture Timing SEI data (data that holds the picture display timing) which some capture devices do not generate correctly.
Updated the MPEG reader, resolving the issues below:

* Analyzing 192 byte packet TS files would take a lot of time and eventually fail;
* ISDB subtitles would not display correctly after navigating in the clip;
* Some specific characters would not display correctly in ISDB subtitles;
* Stereo audio from a DVD-VR source would be recognized as monaural;
* Improved the reader to handle files with an abnormal timestamp in the MPEG header packet to the best extent possible.

Playback would not be smooth for FLV files with a framerate of 25 fps, etc.
Supports importation of some non-compliant FLV files.
The application would freeze when importing specific MKV files.
AVC streams contained in some MKV files could not be correctly demultiplexed.
The displayed HE-AAC audio sampling rate would be half the actual data.
The fast thumbnail would display a green border on the left of the preview with some specific source files.
An insufficient memory error would occur when encoding content imported through the Media Foundation file reader.
Corrected (Output) Corrected issues below related to the Intel Media SDK output:

* The outputted file's profile would be High when using the hardware encoder;
* When encoding in MPEG-4 AVC, levels that cannot be used by the standard (Level 5 / 5.1) would display anyway;
* For the PSP, files encoded through the software encoder using the "Somewhat slow" Performance option would not playback correctly on a PSP.

Corrected issues and improved the SpursEngine file output as below:

* An "Incorrect parameter" error would occur when performing a series of commands in a given order;
* Can no longer encode output with less than 4 frames as per the SpursEngine hardware specifications. When outputting a file with less than 4 frames, the last frame is duplicated until the total length reaches 4 frames and is then outputted

Corrected issues and improved the MPEG file output as below:

* No longer displays non-standard compliant motion search methods (Exhaustive search, Hadamard exhaustive search) and the "Weighted prediction mode (P Picture)" option when encoding video in interlace mode with the x264 encoder;
* When outputting chapters in MPEG-4 (AVC), a first chapter at 0 timestamp is automatically added to the list;
* Unusable channel structures were displayed when using the MPEG-4 (AVC) or MKV file outputs;
* In the MPEG file output, enabling the "Start closed GOP with a B Picture" option would sometimes result in the appearance of an "Invalid MPEG-Video stream" error depending on certain other settings;
* In the MPEG file output, changing the encoder changes the "Maximum number of frames in a GOP" option from 0 to 1023;
* In the MPEG file output, among others, changing the average bitrate setting in the Bitrate calculator now also changes the Maximum bitrate value;
* When selecting the Blu-ray standard MPEG file output, an invalid parameter error would occur due to non-processable settings.

When encoding in AAC audio, a 1 block/1024 sample delay would occur.
When an unexpected error forcing an abnormal ending of the encode occurred, a memory accsess error would then occur and the display would be affected.
Corrected (Other) Corrected issues and improved NVIDIA CUDA support as below:

* CUDA would not be usable when the host computer tries to use both CUDA and the Sandy Bridge internal GPU at the same time;
* Processing the Mosaic filter through CUDA would turn the tiles into green or blackish colors;
* When using the CUDA encoder, enabling the prefetch cache would make the encode process slower than when disabled;
* CUDA related warnings or messages would display when starting the encode process;
* Changed the CPU and CUDA usage rate displayed during the encode process. The CUDA usage rate now appears only when CUDA is actually enabled.
* CUDA performance optimization is now strictier. (With this correction, the performance optimization may take slightly more time than before.)

Corrected issues and improvements in the Cut-edit, Filters and Timeline windows as below:

* An incompatibility would occur for the "Vintage", "Sharpness", and "Smart sharpness" filters when combined with CPU settings that cannot use SSE2 or higher optimizations;
* Application would freeze when applying a Filter template containing a "Sharpness" filter setting;
* When an error would occur during clip editing, the Clip list item's "X" (Delete) button would not function anymore;
* A timeout error would occur when using the "Precision video denoise" filter with CUDA enabled, and could not be used. Also, its default Strength setting is now 100 instead of 300;
* In the "Speed" filter, enabling the "Apply Anti-flickering filter to interlace picture when necessary" option would actually apply the Anti-flickering filter even when not necessary;
* The audio waveform display would not entirely be consistent with our previous software;
* The navigation icon and speed meter would not display when using the "Mask" filter;
* When setting the preview navigation keyboard control to the "% scrollspeed" unit in the Preferences, the scrolling would not occur correctly in the Clip editor window when the scroll commands were used;
* When using filters (Color correction, Subtitles) in Timeline mode, the effect would be displayed twice in the preview;
* Upon moving the preview size slider in the timeline, the mouse wheel would not function anymore on the navigation bar or audio volume slider.

Updated the Batch encode tool, resolving the issues below:

* Upon stopping the batch processing, and re-starting it, the batch processing would suddenly cancel itself;
* When iconifying the Batch encode tool, its icon would still appear in the Task bar even when the iconification preference was set to "Display only in the task tray";
* The batch list information would not update when updating a batch from the main application in linked mode;
* In the Project editor window, entering an invalid output file name would cause an invalid character string error even when clicking the "Cancel" button.

The encoder preview display would not update during the encode.
Setting a keyframe at a timestamp position more than 2 hours in the timeline could not be possible.
In the Clip editor window, the thumbnail now updates when adjusting the thumbnail display and using the navigation keys or during the scene change detection.
Other corrections.

H.264 CUDA Encoding!
NVIDIA CUDA H.264 Encoding.
Not Just for Filtering Anymore.

In addition to CUDA-enabled filter processing and decoding, TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 supports H.264/AVC file output using the CUDA technology provided by NVIDIA. The CUDA technology makes use of the GPU (graphic board CPU) with multi-core parallel processing to process complex calculation problems in a short time. By splitting the processes into parallel elements, and using the massive processing power, the program can run even more effectively. Using this function with a compatible graphic board improves processing acceleration when compared with CPU-only use in most cases.

Intel® Media SDK H.264 Encoding and Decoding.
Sandy Bridge Support.

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 also uses the Intel® Media SDK (2.0) to encode and decode H.264 content. This function, which will use the new Intel Sandy Bridge micro-architecture embeded in CPUs that are planned for release in the begining of 2011, enables hardware support of the encoding and decoding process. Tests conducted with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 showed an acceleration of almost 5 times faster when using the SDK compared to a Core i7.

Encoding Made Simple.
Navigate Through Your Project with the Easy-to-Use Interface.

The Start-up Lancher window gives you the first option for your project. If you just need to convert one video, or link together several videos, choose the "Normal Mode". If you want to create a more sophisticated output with layered videos, or mix video with different audio sources, choose the "Timeline mode". Next, use the Format selector to choose the output format and continue to the Encode process. Voilą, video creation made simple!
Intuitive stages take you through your project with ease!

Tons of Input and Output Formats.
If you've got it, convert it.

Natively supporting a wide variety of the most recent formats such as FLV (H.264), WebM, and the MKV container, you practically don't need to install external CODECs. You can edit and output without needing any knowledge in these formats. Furthermore, it also includes AVCHD, Blu-ray disc importation and even HDV capture functions. It even includes the Editing Proxy function, allowing you to swiftly edit Full HD content.

Cut-Edit Your Video.
With an Improved Editing Window.

The Cut-editor window, while keeping its user interface simple for quick comprehension, has been enhanced with functions to support high-definition editing.
Drop Folder image

* Accelerated preview/fast navigation thanks to the Intuitive Draw Technology 3.0 IDT3.0 . The decoding stage can use CUDA or Intel Media SDK (for compatible formats only), making it easier for high definition video editing.
* You can use the mouse to move within an image when the preview image is larger than the display area, making it possible to edit regardless of the image resolution.
*Image with a resolution higher than 2048 pixels is resized.
* Clip Start/End points can now be set through sliders, allowing simplier cut-editing.
* Audio meter displays the channel number and peak level in real time. You can prevent audio distortion by using the audio filters.

Search Smarter, Not Harder.

Use the mouse's right button to quickly search in the scrolling thumbnail strip. Furthermore, by pressing the mouse's center wheel you activate the automatic scene change detection and jump to the next or previous scene change.

The Filter list.
Enhance Your Video with Filters.
Correct, Improve, and Enhance Video.

From filters aimed at improving the image quality of the source (like the Video denoise and Smart sharpness) to the newly added and creative Vintage picture and Speed filters, many types of filters are now available to you.

Encode Your Video.
Use Templates for Popular Devices and Formats.

Using the Output format template, you can safely and simply set-up the encoder, even you use it for the time, without having to verify the player device's limitations. The Output format template selector sets the encoder for you, so you do not need to have knowledge of the intricate requirements of DVD-Video, Blu-ray formats, or highly demanded formats for the iPhone, iPad, PSP and other mobile devices.

Advanced MPEG Tools.
Improved Tools

The MPEG tool, integrated in the Advanced tools window, is a powerfull tool that allows you to multiplex or demultiplex supported video and container formats. This product supports MP4 and MKV containers in addition to MPEG, and supports multistream. Outputted multistream file editing is also possible by selecting an arbitrary stream in the Clip properties. Other advanced tools are the Project checker, allowing you to verify if all files used in a project are available in the host machine, and the Proxy file creator, allowing you to create a ligther, Clip-editor friendly version of a source file that would be too large to process normally.

SpursEngine Plug-In Support.
Take Advantage of SpursEngine Hardware.

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 can use the TMPGEnc Movie Plug-in SpursEngine, allowing access to the Toshiba made high-performance streaming media processor SpursEngine™.

I have to say that TVMW7 is a quantum improvement over the previous version. I use it to crunch down OTA/Cable HDTV recordings to be burned on Blu-Ray, and the speed increase for 1080i files is incredible. I also occasionally use it for 720p recordings like Formula 1 and Indycar races that don't need pulldown taken out, and the 1080i is now really close to that for rendering speed. A 45-minute episode now takes only 20 minutes or less to render, and that's including fade-outs and pulldown removal.

Unfortunately, the Commercial Detector still hangs up right before the end of an H.264 file; Pegasys still hasn't fixed that. And you still can't use the NVENC feature to encode Blu-Ray compatible files, but to be fair, it may be my particular generation of GeForce that has that limitation since it was 1st generation NVENC.

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 7 dosn't support Dolby TrueHD the only English track you will find on a 4k bluray.
ok for normal bluray or DVD useless for 4k discs, if you speak English and live in Australia.

In a nutshell Bloatware just like Ahead Nero. Two great companies competing for the biggest installer size and over complicated features. The winner Ahead Nero! Both not worth the money nor the trial time.
