Odd/misleading name, "Xvid4PSP", considering it encodes for just about every device. I personally use it for encoding mp4 videos for my iPod, but I have also encoded videos for Nintendo DS (NDS), and PlayStation Portable (PSP).
NDS (Nintendo DS):
Xvid4PSP could not measure up to Moonshell's DpgEnc. The audio was really rough with Xvid4PSP. DpgEnc had perfect audio, so it remains my dpg encoder.
MP4 (iPod/iPhone):
I've used this program in the past to encode many episodes of "Charmed" which I've been watching on my iPod Touch 4. It's been great. The video and audio quality have been top notch. However, recently with XVid4PSP version 5, the audio quality is suddenly "buzzy" and slightly irritating. It reminds me of the bad audio I was getting from the Nintendo dpg video encodes. I hope this is a bug that gets fixed. I am currently trying out the latest beta version 6.x hoping it is already fixed.
The interface is decent, but not ideal for me. But it gets the job done. I would prefer a more standardized Windows look and feel.
I would like to see options for default tag editing of the encoded file, particularly with iPod/iPhone videos. I had to manually edit the tags (using Mp3Tag) to make my TV shows show up under "TV Shows" instead of "Movies". But if it automatically pulled out that info from the filename and added it to the tags, it would be outstanding! |
