Confirmation for Somebodeez comment about v. 1.7.10: RI4M now goes out of its way to find what it never saw before -- an archived, out of the way Decrypter 3520 that is not referenced in the Setup Preferences or anywhere else. As a consequence, it reports that I have an old Decrypter version, do I want to download 3540 ? (Which link has since 404'd, by the way.) I answer NO, and it goes merrily along with the DVDD rip anyway. A query of DVDD in Help --> About *while the rip is taking place* proves that it is indeed v. 3540 that is doing the job. And everything else proceeds normally. A rather minor bug, I'd say.
As to the site being down just now, let's hope this is a temporary hiccup of some sort. It's not paranoid to say that free tools like this are probably in the "industry" crosshairs, but that would be a great shame if this one is following in the pattern we saw for Shrink. RI4M is a very good tool that has just gotten better and better. |
