A wonderful tool got even better with the ability to substitute your favorite background picture in place of unwanted previews, extras, etc. Before this feature was available, your only choice was to remove audio and choose "frames only" or something like that, which just showed every 30th frame or something, still took up too much space. Now you can make your own background image with some instructions like "Press Menu now to proceed" or whatever. I much prefer this over the Re-author option, because you get to keep all of the menus intact. I just select the 5.1 or 2 ch English soundtracks, get rid of all the subtitles, then go through each video sequence to make sure that I only keep the necessary movie and menu files. This is way easier than the IFOedit approach and yields great results.
The resulting video quality, even if the quality setting is as low as 70% (30% compression), is VERY good even to a trained eye.
If you are a stickler for perfect quality backups, use the Re-author option and just get rid of everything except the main movie files. You should be able to squeeze it all on one disc with no or very little compression. The menus will be gone, but many people don't care abou those anyway.
