I wanted to do some tests to prove something to myself and did a CRF 20 then got the bitrate result off it and ran two pass same bitrate. The 2 pass gave crisper image and better facial details. CRF is no better or worse than 1 pass abr and a total con if it is meant to equivalent of 2 pass!
in fact I think I prefer 1 pass abr high bitrate overall using slower settings film preset. Using other h264 gui's got similar results using many pristine sources. The people who praise CRF are deluding themselves. Tx264 nice software still. Thanks. |
