To get a full repair you must buy it(40 bucks only does 1 full repair and you must cough up 120 for unlimited!) as it only does half the file in trial mode. What a con! Only idiots or money to burn would buy this.

Downloaded the MAC file. It contains .exe files which do not work on Mac. Please fix the download so Mac users actually download the Mac version.

Crashes on scan when trying to repair an mp4 file

Did not work for me in trial/demo. But vtsfix which is free, worked! You must have money to waste if you spend it on this rubbish software!

Tried this on a broken recording made by my Sony Xperia smartphone, which was not finished correctly due to the camera app crashing. The file wouldn't play in any player or editor I tried (VLC, MPC-HC, MPlayer, WMP, Avidemux, VirtualDub) and MediaInfo recognised no streams.

This repair utility asked for the broken file and a errorless reference recording made with the same camera. One click later and it started analysing and reconstructing the file. The trial version is limited to recovering 50% of the video's length. That amounted to 5 minutes, and the recovery was done in around 20 seconds. The resulting file seems fine and plays in all players.

Very good marks for it doing what it actually does, but very low marks for the value for money ratio. I understand that what the tool does might be very valuable in certain situations, but I don't condone profiteering from people when they are desperate, as the tool doesn't really do anything so special to warrant the steep price (you see a lot of generic file system recovery tools doing the same, asking exorbitant prices for features that other tools do for much less, or even free). Hence, I opted to not register and instead look for an alternative tool. If the price doesn't bother you though: this tool does what it promises to do, does it quickly, and you can check whether it will work for your specific file(s) thanks to the trial.

Review by Anamon on Sep 22, 2013 Version: 1.9.0.0 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 2/10 Overall: 6/10

This absolutely works if your camera is listed. I have a Canon 7D and was using SanDisk 32gb CF card. After getting home and dumping the files to my external hdd I noticed out of about 70 .mov files, the last two were corrupt (not showing video) but the info on the file listed that one had recorded 2.6gb and the other 1.33gb worth of video. They would not play in my camera or computer.

I downloaded the VideoRepair trial software from http://grauonline.de and input my bad file plus a good file from the cf card. It repaired the file perfectly so I bought the FULL unlimited version. If you have a corrupted .mov file and your camera is listed give the trial download a try. It is very user friendly.

It worked fine on a broken MP4.

But be sure to test the trial/demo before you buy, the demo will try recreate half the movie and it takes some minutes. Read the online manual how to use it.

I wish this app worked because I have a damaged H264/MP4 from a Samsung MX20. Unfortunately, it didn't fix it. I contacted the developer who said he would add my camcorder; I even sent him a good clip so he'd have whatever data from the good file would provide the fix to the bad file. *sigh* Doesn't work.

As it's a free download to try it I don't feel right leaving all those "1" ratings without adding that it cost me nothing to try it. If the developer would manage to include my camcorder in his "fix-it" settings, I'd buy the app in a heartbeat.
