I don't know if i am the only one that gotten this but the latest update won't convert/re-encode a file (no matter how big it is) for atleast 2 hours but mostly much longer and then after that you get not only a banner infront and back of the video BUT also a watermarked logo/banner in the corner of the entire video itself. I could live with the banner before and after the video but the watermark killed this program. I use Freemake Video Converter to shrink/change videos to look the same as the orginal file but this advert overload is now making FVC useless and feels more like crap. They always tried install hidden/other junkware on your PC in the past but this is a step too far!

Aug 27, 2017 Version: 4.1.10 OS: Windows 7 Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 2/10

What a shame such a great piece of software has now written itself off. The latest update won't convert a file for 2 hours and makes you wait, And then after that sticks a banner front and back of the video. Software is now useless and feels more like ransomware. They always tried top install other junk ware on your PC in the past but this is a step too far!

Aug 13, 2017 Version: 4.1.10 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 8/10 Functionality: 1/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 1/10

Rubbish, adware ridden software which is not free to get some semblance/true meaning of the word freeware which cannot even handle interlaced content yet.

Aug 13, 2017 Version: 4.1.10 OS: Windows 8 Ease of use: 7/10 Functionality: 7/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 1/10

Purchase, purchase, purchase....every more features must purchase :( In the next version you have to pay to start the program? And the name does not match and leads into the crazy "Freemake"

Aug 10, 2017 Version: 4.1.10 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 6/10 Functionality: 2/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 2/10

Not that great as freeware and I'd certainly wouldn't pay for it to get the extra functions like the remove black bars which aren't that effective sometimes. It can't deinterlace(wtf!)so pray every source you enter is progressive which renders this software useless. You can't use abr/vbr for your audio source or copy a direct stream. And it doesnt work in xp, not that I'm bothered by that. It works fast, but I saw loads artifacting on my encodes even after a 2 pass. Nearly forgot mostly bundled with hidden spyware crap(depending on which site you get it from!) which if you tick to not install may still get in your system.

Aug 9, 2017 Version: 4.1.10 OS: Windows 8 64-bit Ease of use: 8/10 Functionality: 5/10 Value for money: 4/10 Overall: 4/10

With the new version 4.1.10, you can't convert any more video to mp3 in freeware mode
You need to purchase the gold pack to be able to do it again.

Aug 3, 2017 Version: 4.1.40 OS: Windows 8 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 4/10 Value for money: 6/10 Overall: 7/10

There's plenty of reputable sites where you can get an installer of Freemake without that bundle adwarecrap. I think after the version I'm referring to now build 53 or build 56 there's no XP support. My major quibble with this Freemake software is that you cannot deinterlace or ivtc NTSC sources or pure interlaced ones, so you are limited to progressive sources only. Doesn't say much for the skill of the developers and they even admit this lack on their webpage! Also the autocrop it uses- remove black bars- often leaves cropping too be done, in other words not accurate! Also the changelog has not been updated in months on their homepage. I also dislike that you cannot copy an audio source and you are limited to constant bitrate for aac/mp3.

Jul 15, 2017 Version: 4.1.9.53 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 9/10 Functionality: 7/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 7/10

No comments. Rating it only.

May 27, 2017 Version: 4.1.9.52 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 9/10

I had used it.

The only features it lacked from my perspective were:

1- no Copy option for video/audio and
2- No support for multi track audio

It used to be an easy-to-use video converter but commercial [or survival/sustenance] considerations have left it in a sorry state. I was going to use it but after reading some user comments am declining.

Hope developers read comments here.

Oct 10, 2016 Version: 4.1.9 OS: Windows 7 Ease of use: 9/10 Functionality: 6/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 8/10

This month I decided to upgrade, and discovered that Freemake has garbageware that will install WITH NO OPTION TO DENY. This is the first of this that I have ever seen. I attempted fresh download and install twice from Freemake's website, and same result. So...I allowed it to install, including the junkware that came with it, then I manually removed the junkware leaving only Freemake. Freemake then shut down and would not run. So...not only does it insist you install the junkware, but will not run if you remove it.
So I moved on to Any Video Converter, and not only will it copy videos that Freemake could not download, but it converts with no problems. So I never looked back.
At least that has been my experience.

Aug 6, 2016 Version: 4.1.9 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 5/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 1/10

Installed version 4.1.4, but it crashes before starting to convert. So tried to update to 4.1.9, but now the installer crashes.

Jan 17, 2016 Version: 4.1.9 OS: Windows 8 64-bit Ease of use: 1/10 Functionality: 1/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 1/10

I originally downloaded this to use to convert some Youtube videos that weren't playing on my Popcorn Hour PCH-200 media player. Turns out, the player didn't like the like the pound sign characters in the filename. Anyway, since I had Freemake on my PC, I figured I'd use it to try to convert a documentary that I was having problems converting before. I tried using both AVS2DVD and AVI2DVD to convert the documentary to DVD but had audio/video sync problems with each application. Freemake did the conversion perfectly and couldn't have been easier to use. I can't comment on any of the other functions as I haven't tried them yet (although it does seem straightforward)but for converting video files to DVD, this application is great!

(PS. As others have said, be careful during the install to prevent any unwanted addons. Also, as mentioned in tool info, the tool will add it's logo to the very end of your video but it only appears for a few seconds.)

Dec 29, 2015 Version: 4.1.9.3 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 8/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 8/10

This version causes an install error; appears to install and then not installed. It also messed up Internet Explorer and Firefox from connecting to any websites. I checked both browsers connection settings and all is well. LAN settings are set correctly. The only way I could get the browsers to display webpages was to clear the IP Configuration: Open Command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns press enter.

I suspect this version may be a browser hijacker.

Oct 16, 2014 Version: 4.1.5 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 1/10 Functionality: 1/10 Value for money: 1/10 Overall: 1/10

@Capmaster

It could be/sounds like a codec issue with your mp4 file.
What format is the audio from your mp4 file that wont play/preview?

I have mp4's with AVC video & AAC audio - it hasn't stipped the audio, and they play/preview fine.

Jul 7, 2014 Version: 4.1.4.1 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 8/10 Functionality: 8/10 Value for money: 8/10 Overall: 8/10

Tool strips off audio from MP4. In fact it won't even PLAY audio on an MP4 file.

It "seems" YouTube is causing problems for an particular aspect of this program.

The last few versions all cite "Fixed the problem with YouTube videos download" for the history.

Jul 12, 2013 Version: 4.0.2.12 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 7/10 Functionality: 7/10 Value for money: 7/10 Overall: 7/10

May 12, 2013 Version: na OS: Windows 7 Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 6/10 Value for money: 7/10 Overall: 5/10

FLV files still do not play correctly. Sound is off playing at 1/2 speed.

Apr 5, 2013 Version: 4.0.0.5 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 5/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 8/10

FLV files still do not work right. Sounds plays 1/2 speed along with the video which plays correctly. This bug has been ongoing since 3.2.1. I have reported it back then, and its still not fixed.

Mar 11, 2013 Version: 4.0 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 2/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 2/10

Had used various versions of Freemake for some time and then when I did an update it started crashing on me. Reinstalled and updated to latest version all to no avail. Contacted their support and got nowhere, didn't even really address what the real problem was or any solution. Was disappointed as I liked the program setup and ease of use. Currently on the hunt for a replacement.

Feb 15, 2013 Version: 3.2.1..5 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 8/10 Functionality: 6/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 7/10

I'm not going on with this argument/conversation, I'll just end with this. This program is good for newbies who just want to rip their dvd collection quickly and easily. It is up to them if they want the best quality to look into other programs as they learn about codecs/formats and get into the technical aspects of video transcoding if they want to. I want my rips all on my external drives so I can watch them on my media player without having to waste time switching dvds. The time factor is why I use this.

Feb 12, 2013 Version: 3.2.1.5 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

@Wolfen

I suggest to read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_segmented_frame article to understand the problem.

The software deinterlaces everything which causes enormous drop of video quality. (the loss of the half of spatial resolution)

The software hasn't detailed h.264 options.

Feb 12, 2013 Version: 12345 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 9/10 Functionality: 1/10 Value for money: 2/10 Overall: 3/10

@ fedupwithjunk. Wow talk about Paranoia! it's a free program for ripping and converting DVDs if you want to be paranoid about something talk all you want about Google Chrome and the info it's sending to the Authorities. And as for the De-interlacing thing It uses the ffmeg lib to de-interlace the input if it needs de-interlacing that's what automatic means.

Feb 10, 2013 Version: 3.2.1.5 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

Due to its automatic deinterlacer: It can't handle interlaced video contents, and It worsen the video quality of Progressive Segmented Frame videos, because it deinterlace it instead of put the fields together to create real progressive video frames.

Feb 10, 2013 Version: 9999 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 2/10 Value for money: 2/10 Overall: 3/10

We should be concerned that this program ignores all instruction to deny it reporting back home. At best this points to poor ethical values and at worst just down right crooked.

BEWARE if it seems to good to be true IT IS!

I have not had time to trap what info it is secretly sending out but if someone wants to report their findings it would shed some light. In the meantime users should configure their firewall.

Feb 10, 2013 Version: 3.2.1 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 6/10 Functionality: 6/10 Value for money: 7/10 Overall: 6/10

This is by far the best FREE DVD Ripper, the quality is great, it's easy to use, it ripped every dvd that I've thrown at it. I didn't install any of the extra bundled software(just watch and read when you install this program). So there is and add in the middle of the gui, big deal it doesn't flash or anything it just sits there, I don't sit there and look at the gui while it's ripping/encoding anyway. The quality imo beats most commercial rippers out there. It doesn't crop the black bars(I just want to watch the rips on my TV)but you can cut scenes out of it before you do the rips. Oh and it always gets the aspect ratio right and there is never a problem with messing around with the de-interlacer it's automatic. This is all I use now for ripping my DVDs to H264/aac MP4s.

Feb 6, 2013 Version: 3.2.1.5 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

I updated to version 3.2.1.4 and I uninstalled it after seeing the Annoying Reminder about "Freemake Gold Pack" smack in the center of the GUI, which does Not go away even after the first use. I really don't need this software that badly, besides there are a lot more Freeware which does conversions if needed. So!!!

Jan 30, 2013 Version: 3.2.1.4 OS: Vista 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 9/10

This program is great. With only one exception. FLV files doesn't extract correctly with this program. The sound is like 1/2 speed slow. The sound is trailing behind the video but at 1/2 rate. FLV files do play perfectly on my powerdvd 11, and other programs that cost also play it correctly, but this one would be the best if the sound was right. Speeding up to 2x, makes the sound close to normal, but then the video is racing by.

Post a suggestion to them via their facebook page. They seem to respond to that within a short period of time.

I think this a terrific tool. I have one beef in that they say you can offer suggestions and such to improve the program but they never bother letting you know if they got your message. I have been hoping they could find a way to edit a file and let it pass through the program without re-encoding. This would be especially useful for HD files recorded using a Hauppauge HD-PVR. Also the DVD feature, to be able to access the menu page to design it to one's own liking would be nice. All this being said it is a great program and I use it very often. Thank you to the creators of the program.

Does anyone know why it leaves those "... do not remove ..." folders behind in the Documents folder? It seems as if they are not reused, so when I close the program I delete those folders anyway.

Aug 19, 2012 Version: 3.1.1.3 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 9/10 Functionality: 7/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 8/10

Very straightforward and intuitive tool for video conversion n00bs like me. Love the UI design and color scheme, the buttons are nice and big so it's easy on the eyes and perfect for touchscreens.

This software should not be labeled as adware as most freeware on the internet give the user options to opt out of installing toolbars and other included software.

Very good UI design. I'm impressed!
Unfortunately it cannot process my MXF files correctly :-(
The generated MP4 file has only still image without sound.
Hope this can be improved in future updates.

Why is this singled out as "adware" when you can choose NOT to install the stupid toolbar thing? Many (most?) "free" apps these days come packaged with stupid toolbars, which you can elect to ignore.

Dec 15, 2011 Version: 3.01 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

Good product; I even burned a dual-layer DVD movie with it after ripping with DVDfab and it did it flawlessly. For downloading and converting FLV videos to mpg3 works a treat. So far I am impressed with it. I can understand why we have to be careful, but I have this locked from sending out with Comodo and so far no attempts. I think they may be a bit secretive from a copyright safety standpoint. I suspect that they are working out any bugs for now and eventually will package it as a "for sale" product. Can't blame them.

@y0himba

You are not alone. As you said Ellora Assets Corporation is located in Seychelles. Some facts:

1. Even is Ellora Assets Corporation claims to be in Seychelles but the HQ are located in LA.
2. The developers are RUSSIAN.
3. Ellora Assets Corporation statement: Freemake.com project is financed by a private sponsor who wants to deliver quality software to the world market.
4. Elena Vakhromova is their PR:

Who is the mysterious private sponsor? Another russian who needs to collect our computer data through freemakeutilsservice.exe? That's why all Freemake products are free?

From Facebook:

Hi everybody,

as promised yersterday we released an update with the fix of all found issues related to FreemakeUtilsService.

1. Now FreemakeUtilService which aroused so much concern is installed only upon user's permission who wants to help improve Freemake. The bug with the running service was fixed.
2. The service is uninstalled if software is uninstalled, no files are left. This was fixed too.
3. If the service was installed with the previous software version, a user can opt out in the new version. In this case the service will be automatically removed from PC.

Here to avoid confusion brought by some people we'd like to stress once again that the service didn't send before and doesn't send now any data if a user opted out.

The only function of the aforementioned service is to collect our software usage stats which will allow us to improve Freemake further, to your benefit. In case of a crash report a user is asked an additional permission to send a report through dedicated message window.

If permitted, the service runs when a user is online to synchronyze with our server for best time to send crash reports and usage stats. This is done to avoid our server time overload.

A user is given full information about the service via a link to a webpage during software installation.

They have removed the majority of my posts on Facebook with test result and concerns over the service. They are trying to make folks think I am a "competitor", although I drive a bus.

Further concerns, I just looked on their website, and was a bit concerned to see the bottom:

That's exactly what the footer has on it. Or, in case the obviousness is lost in the quote: there are no actual links. I didn't see any such pages by browsing to other pages either.

More concerning even is their Wikipedia page, which has a section about a licensing controversy:

Quote
FFmpeg has added Freemake Video Converter to its Hall of Shame. An issue tracker entry for this product, opened on 16 December 2010, says it is in violation of GNU General Public License as it is distributing components of FFmpeg project without including due credit. Ellora Assets Corporation has not responded yet.

In other words, you are dealing with a company that (despite all of the 'social media buttons' on its front page) lacks the capacity to communicate and/or doesn't give a crap about licenses. It is probably a single individual running this entire site, but even if that isn't the case they operate under the guise of a company. As such they should be held to the standards of one. Throw in the fact that they censor the social media stuff about that service, and little remains to trust them with.

Just to add to previous postings, there is quite a heated discussion on the freemake facebook page about this issue. Freemake is defending themselves saying it's all innocent, and plan to release another version soon that resolves these issues & make everyone happy. We shall wait & see??

Hmmm, the more I look, the more interesting this becomes.

As mentioned in my previous post, parts of the the "Freemake" folder can be deleted (once the "utilities service" is stopped), and the program still works. HOWEVER, when you uninstall the program, this folder is NOT removed!!!

Something else was brought to my attention here
-> http://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/freemake.com?page=2
If you look at the very last post, it mentions a trojan and a worm.

The two files mentioned are found in a rather bland looking folder called "COM" that the program installs OUTSIDE the installation folder. It contains, among other things, the dvd burning component and some other stuff.

Interestingly, you can delete the two .exe files in the folder, and the program still starts up - though I assume it won't burn any dvds. However, if you delete FMMediaUtils.dll or FMVideoConverterLib.dll the program crashes. I guess I can understand the second one causing problems, but the "utils" thing, which the poster before me alluded to, really does make me wonder.

Anyway, I've now followed his lead and have removed the program - again. If you decide to do the same, run regedit and remove the Freemake entries by hand; the uninstall routine doesn't do it.

Here are a couple of solutions for the issue mentioned by the last poster.

To prevent "freemakeutilsservice.exe" from starting when you boot up your machine, use a program like Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902) to find the registry entry and uncheck it.

Another, more drastic, approach is the one I took: You simply delete the ENTIRE Freemake folder that the program installs to your "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\" folder (at least that's what happens in XP). It includes the Utility and a couple other components.

As far as my testing has shown, part of the folder is rebuilt when you run the program, but not the "Utility" component. The program itself appears to work fine without the "Utility Service", though I don't know what would happen if you encountered a crash.

My fundamental suspicion, however, remains unmitigated.

I have said nice things about this software before, but I've just noticed "freemakeutilsservice.exe" in my task manager. It loads up automatically, even when Freemake is not running. The official excuse is "it is used to send crash reports", but why is it running when I'm not even using Freemake? With regrets I am uninstalling this until the developers come clean about this.

Although I remain a cynic about the company and its motives (but that's my problem, not theirs), I have to be fair and confess that I was stuck this morning and this program saved me.

It installs fast, is easy as pie to use, and - at least in this case - does what it promises.

I just can't help wondering why it's free ;-)

Anyway, my thanks to Freemake.

FFMpeg had listed Ellora Assets Corporation in there "Hall of Shame", FFMpeg says it is in violation of GNU General Public License as it is distributing components of FFmpeg project without including due credit. Ellora Assets Corporation has not responded yet. Whatever way this goes down, as a user, I have to give the software a solid 10 across the board. As I previously stated, the company cannot be any worse than say Microsoft or Apple, two companies which spend a great deal of time and money on attorneys.

You do raise a good point... I have ALWAYS trusted "tools" posted at videohelp.com! But that's under the presumption that Baldrick filters all the software that comes his way with stringent anti-virus scanning etc... Is this really the case? Does Baldrick check everything that comes through to his "Tools" list? I hope so. Having said that, I like Freemake Video Converter, and I use the "visualisation" stuff quite often, it's great!

"... they can't be any worse than the known entities like Microsoft and Apple ..."

With all due respect to the person who made the previous comment, I'm afraid I don't see the comparison at all. The two companies mentioned are gigantic and super rich. Of course both also provide lots of reasons for not liking them.

Mentioning Ellora Assets Corporation in the same breath as either, though, is like comparing any of the unknown musicians on YouTube - many of whom are admittedly very talented - with the stars whose works they cover.

If it makes and difference, I apologize here and now to Ellora Assets Corporation for "sentencing them without a trial". Having said that, I stay by my contention that any company that puts on such a big show of altruism - especially one whose name contains the words "Assets Corporation" - deserves to be met with some skepticism.

I guess I'd compare them more with DVDVideoSoft Limited, but even the latter is a bit more transparent in regard to its business model. By the way, I don't use their products either.

It's free, it all works, it has yet to choke on any video I've converted, or any video I've extracted audio from. I really like shockwave flash function that builds script code for my web pages. It's really a superb piece of software, frequently updated to stay with current technologies. I don't know a thing about the Company, but they can't be any worse than the known entities like Microsoft and Apple, which don't offer anything like it for free.

I guess I'm paranoid, but I've dumped this program because I simply can't warm up to the developers, Ellora Assets Corporation. They're located in the Seychelles (maybe I'm jealous) and don't say a word about themselves except that they're committed to free software. A Google search reveals that they keep their cards held very close to their chests.

I guess what made me suspicious is that after a relatively long period of stagnation, they've come out with three updates in a matter of days/weeks.

Seems like a simple trick: a nice, free program - update one, cool, update two, no problem, ... update seven ... I won't even check it with my anti-virus program ... bingo, gotcha'.

I'll repeat, "I guess I'm paranoid, but ...".

If anyone can find out anything about the company, please post it. Thanks.

Not bad. It encoder very good, and high speed. Some filter like crop, shar, denoise and many other are missing, but it accept .AVS avisynth script.
Encoded can be improved just a bit. sometimes high speed produce not accurate frames or bad black compression.
Very very good for 2 passes on CUDA.

After searching for days and trying other Freeware, Shareware & trying out products like Nero I had about given up finding a decent product to convert MP4 files and burn the to DVD. I would either get something that would take 3+ hours or would only play on my laptop, or I would get sound only and a garbled picture or a great picture and NO sound at all. Then I stumbled upon Freemake Video Converter.

This is an excellent, easy to use and doing it right the first time product. And it's Free!

Tried this back in December 2010 to transcode NTSC 1080i captures with my Hauppauge 1212 to 23.976 MKV and found the software identified the stream as 25fps and the resulting conversion was poor quality. However, the latest version has improved significantly and the resulting output is quite good, but it continues to identify the NTSC 1080i stream as 25fps.

The "visualization" thing is nice! For anybody wanting a TRUE "one-click" converter app, I would recommend this. Seems to work fine, quality is good, and even does auto menus. Of course most folk here would not be interested, but there are plenty of folk out there who want this sort of ultra-simplicity. And most free "one-click" converters aren't truly "one-click". This one is!

A few issues need clarification from the previous post: The DVD preset generates high bitrate (9000Kbps) MPEG-2 video and is meant to be burned to DVD-Video. Xvid/DivX (MPEG-4) would of course compress better, and is not meant for DVD-Video output. Most output options CAN be customized in the way of bitrate, framerate, etc. Those options (when available) are to be found under "Edit Preset", so you could view most presets as templates that can be customized to a user's particular needs. I have found FVC to be an exceptionally consistent and well executed piece of software, capable of generating output quality, in a multitude of formats, which is second to none. I am very impressed with FVC, and now use it for most of my DVD and Blu-ray disc creation when speed and quality are paramount.

Apr 16, 2011 Version: 2.1.3 OS: WinXP Ease of use: 9/10 Functionality: 9/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 9/10

my only complaint is that you cant set the output size. I did an mkv (5gb's) recently down to "dvd" and it sized it at 1.35gb's. With that kinda logic it would have been better and faster to just use a xvid/divx codec instead. Other than that its a pretty fast piece of software and super simple to use. Output quality on other formats is decent. Would be nice to have more customizable options for those who like to tinker with size/bitrate etc.

I know how to encode megui like tools but not an expert. I am also familiar with ffmpeg and mencoder cli. Still I wanted a simple converter that works with some features like trimming, cropping, few important quality tweaks like bitrate or crf and batch conversion.
All imtoo, any video, avs, total video converters failed to meet their advertised expectations and failed to please me. Every one failed in some bad way. I wanted to like imtoo a lot, as it has every thing i wanted, but it failed in many ways. ignored adjusted bit rate, cropping and resizing is not straight forward. two pass encoding never worked.

This tool worked flawless. I am very disappointed as there is no cropping filter, and I can not adjust or tweak any codes settings. Most of the times depending on the profile it generated impressive video. For now i will stick to it for simple encodes.

If any one want super easy video converter(do not want any settings), I am pretty sure This is the best out there, and it is free.

Note to the dev: crop/resizing filter is more important than flipping the video for this type of tool.

My observation is all these tools used ffmpeg, one of which used cli it self, this also used mencoder cli.

I hope this developers/programmers are reading this comments. Your app is good in many ways, but it lacks fews tweaking filters common in freewares on this site. Please in your next update. Add cropping, brighting and contrast filters. I will really assist you to promote this app in my college campus knowing that it is handy, and useful for my student friends and others. Thanks for your hard work and make it better.

P/s Just one more thing to add to my previous post....the minimum Frame rate right now in this program is 12 fps...if possible PLEASE add three more 6, 8 and 10 fps cause MOST downloaded Live Stream FLV/H264 videos could only be view (normally) at 6 fps or 10 fps, cause the original downloaded fps is usually in access of >1000!

Feb 1, 2011 Version: 2.0.1.2 OS: Windows 7 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 9/10 Value for money: 9/10 Overall: 9/10

This thing is excellent, SUPER!

I download lots of stream videos in FLV/H264 and Avidemux usually could handle about 90% of those and for the rest I would first need to run thru FLVExtract or FLVJoint before Avidemux could read/open them due to missing timestamp/metadata/sound not in sync or downloaded video's frame rates in excess of 1000 (this is usually the case when downloading using Replay Media Catcher)....but once in a while one or two files which no matter what couldn't be read/open by Avidemux even after running thru FLVExtract or FLVJoint...and I just tried opening those files with this program and it could read those files, it's SUPER! (I then use this program to convert to mp4 before using Avidemux to edit them!)

Now I have another tool to open/read those problematic FLV/H264 files before sending them to Avidemux to edit/open/read. I just wish there is also a version of this excellent tool for Intel, cause I'm using Intel Q6600 and couldn't make use of the default Cuda!

I recently needed a quick conversion of an mp4 contained in avi format file to a shockwave flash (swf) file, since, I've done countless quick conversion with Freemake, no adware, no nagware, totally free, and just what I wanted each time.

This software did it fast and easy. You may find conversion tools that offer unlimited options, and they are on this site, this one is by far the easiest to master, point and click, convert, done. It worked flawlessly for me on a vista machine with a dual core cpu, 4 gigs of ram, and HIS Radeon 5570 vid card, on everything I needed it for. I have just about every tool on this site and I am extremely impressed with the simplicity and final result.

this piece of software does what i want it to do however a few suggestions to the creators of this software which would help greatly to improve it
1.the option to select the length of chapters for each title/s
2.the option to save dvd/blu ray folders to hardisk
3.when video conversions are done to shutdown your pc
apart from that kudos to the creators you have done a great job with this program

Tried this with 1080i transport stream to Matroska. Had the same poor results as with previous version. Doesn't handle interlaced video properly. Couldn't find where I could add deinterlace filter.

I gave this a shot, but it identifies all my input video as 25fps when they're 29.97 interlaced, even after editing the profile for Matroska. I was hoping for deinterlacing as well, but it didn't seem to get that right either.

Have used this tool over the last month for converting to mp4 for a Nokia 5800, excellent results. I had to edit a new profile and just named it 5800, easy as ! Also used it successfully to watch on my HDTV,(different format) very easy to use, fairly light download and uses little resources, looks good and feels good and inputs just about anything. With basic editing it's a keeper, only one suggestion if they could include adding subtitles to the prog it would cover most of my needs and I think many others as well
