This drive is absolute crap. It's creating coasters 4 of 5 times. The latest firmware didn't fix the problem. Even getting the firmware is a pain. The firmware upgrade isn't even in English. Support is terrible for this drive. I would never buy a Panasonic or Matsu*SHIT*a drive ever again. Advantages: makes coasters very quickly Disadvantages: poor quality, poor support, extremely noisy Comments posted by toolio42 from Canada, October 29, 2007. Rated this writer 1 of 10. |

This is the same as the defective "Hammer" DVD-DL drive FRy's is still trying to unload, now down to $20 after rebate. Don't buy it !!!! I returned two for warranty (complete failure), they keep failing after about 6 months. Comments posted by Frank Gifford from United States, April 07, 2007. Rated this writer 2 of 10. |

so far it's not good news.... i took the first one back since it wouldn't read any of my DVD+RW media that i had already accumulated while using my old NEC DVD+/-RW drive. second one was the same - wouldn't even recognize the media (would report hardware error). trying to decide whether to throw away all my DVD+RW disks, & take a chance & buy another brand to see if they work ok in it, or just take the drive itself back & get another brand. strangely enough, it DID burn a CD-RW disk made by compusa without a hitch, and didn't have any problems with memorex cd-rw media either. if it's going to be this flakey on one of the most popular brands of dvd+rw media, i'm thinking it's got to be too incompatabile for me. I just bought it 2 days ago, a pain to use w/ Ridata 4X DVD-RW, their firmware B101 is not even working w/ the drive. When I think on the Panasonic website, it's said the service is important and they release a firmware that is not well tested before. What a joke!!! I did not expect such a poor service from a cie like Panasonic. Furthermore, for a new hardware release (Jan 2005) they cannot used DVD-RW 4x, I find it very pitiful.
