Got one of these as i could not get hold of an A-05. Simply, fantastic, copied all i thrown at it, even copied a film on the fly. Think it's an A-05 in a teac case. Well worth the money

This burner has been smooth as silk on everything I've thrown at it. If it has any flaw, it's that I have not been able to rip a DVD at higher than 2.2x. However, backing up my DVDs has become so much easier and faster than my old SVCD on CDR methods that it's still all good.

It's a good writer, as the same as the pioneer.
I,ve bought here in Italy for 299 €.
It's work with more type of media (e.g. Vayo and Princo)and burn
a 4X disc in 14 min.
Ciao.

Seems to be based on a Pioneer AO5 OEM according to CDRlabs. Test results on Tomshardware suggest the same.

This raises the question on firmaware updates for media compatibility, none available on Teac's site as of today.

I have no Problems with this writer. It has firmware 1.10. Some disks like Traxdata 2x and Imation 1x. are incompatible with this drive.

Traxdata 1x, Verbatim 4x, TDK 2x and Fujitsu 2x all can be written without a problem.

DVD-Rs play without a problem on my Aiwa XV 370 and Toshiba 210E.

Verbatim 4x disks can be written in 14 mins at 4x speed. CDs can be read in RAW-modus. I would have rated it a 10, but DVDs are only read at 2.7 speed.

Intenso DVD-RW(1x) 5Eur.

Video-DVD-authoring and burning with Ulead VideoStudio 6.
