No problems what so ever!
Platinum dvd+r and Philips dvd+rw works like fine.
Installation was too easy.
1. open case
2. install and cable
3. close case and power up
4. XP starts and notify you about the new drive and thats it. Nero 6 worked fine like others...

i flash my DV-W58G-A with latest liteon 812s firmware and now work very fine , no coaster with any media....and suport bitsetting.....
So i can burn an noname media which Plextor can't.
I'm so happy now.

i was thinking that my dvd writer is bad....but i was wrong...i remove the alimentation cable and put in another , and i change my data cable with another and my drive write/read flawless ok (no one coaster)
Now is able to write at noname (mirror) dvd- at 100% succes .
I only use TDK dvd- (4x)(1,6 euro),traxdata dvd+ (4x) (1,35 euro),noname dvd (2x)(0,64 euro) and sky dvd (+)4x....and no coaster from yesterday(when i was change data cable until now).
So i'm happy!

i tried many other media like creation , tdk and everyone have some erors (- for dvd video)
only a sky dvd+r and an traxdata-rw has burn succed.
i think this drive is good like my english.
or maybe it is not a good dvd reader (think he's maybe able to write but did not able to read what he's write)
The erorrs is sems to apear in most of video dvd what i make.
The cheap media is work well in my dvd standalone pixelview ..but an expansive media like creation don't.
the write at 4x give as a low quality dvd- media the at 2x,.I think that dvd + media is more compatible with this drive then dvd- is.
Bye and ...sorry for my bad english .

I burn with Teac DV-W58G-A (Black) :
1 cdrw SAMSUNG 10x ------ Good
3 cdr INOVATIONS 1 Poor , 2 Good
1 cdr Raxon (40x) at 16x Good
1 dvd-r Creation (4x) at 4x Good
2 dvd-r Sundisc (low price) 1 Bad (at 4x)/1 Good (at 2x)
THIS DVD WRITER IS THE SAME WITH LITEON 812S
First Impessions :
PROS: * Good cd-rw writer , quality and speed
* Very Good corections error at read
* Very sillent at work
* Compatibility with many dvd's/ cd's media
* It's seems to be a dual layer (dvd 9 GB) writer with future firmware

CONS: * Low speed (at read) cd-media (only at error zone)
* High processor usage (100 %)with Dvd media at 8x
* Instability at write cd-r at same media
* Low speed (at read) dvd-r media , only at 6x
PS: wait for next firmware (the second)

Very good burner. Price is ok, burns 8x Dvd+ and DVD-, speedhack-tool for liteons works well, I burned some 4x DVD- and DVD+ at 8x. According to Teac the burner is DVD-9(double layer) hardware-compatible, a firmware for this should be available this year.
Quite fast DVD and CD read-access, reliable writing, writing speed is truely 8x (about 10 mins).
