| I got this SH-S183A in July 07 and in about 4 months it burn very well. 2 months ago it began with PowerCalibration Errors and it just be more and more. Today January 08 it cant burn anymore, that is only a ½ year it worked. It was updated with the newest Firmware and the DVDs i burned is the same type all the way. | I had this as the Dell TS-H653A but it didn't always like Verbatim DVR-RWs. Updated the drive to SH-S183A SB02 and then SB03. Info on making your Dell SB03 http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=204254 and http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?p=37412#37417 Installing the firmware SB03 (you must have updated to SB02 first if you had the TS-H653A but no reason why you can't go from SB00/1 to 03) is easier as it's an .exe file http://preview.tinyurl.com/yr25xu When you get to Samsung you may need to rename the file to just .exe and they've added a comma (,) on by mistake. | Very good unit, native SATA. I've never had a problem with this unit in Vista x64, I heard lots of people claiming issues with sata ODD, but I got none, also in the same system there is a SH-S163A and it works flawlessly too. I plugged the ODD to the Intel ICMHR sata ports and not to the crappy jmicron &co :) Burning: Verbatim dvd-r 16X (burned at 18X, but quality is not perfect, my cyberhome standalone player has some hiccups, so i prefer to burn at 16X which is perfect), Verbatim dvd+r 16X: 16X perfect, tdk cd-r: 48x perfect.
