Excellent DVD Writer. Have one Internal and two in a USB2.0/Firewire Enclosures. Note to all use the Firewire if you can it allows writing at 8x.

Ditto on the 80-pin cable.

MUST have it.

One coaster using a standard 40-pin IDE cable. Made the change...updated to latest firmware. No problems yet.

Got the 110, plugged into Secondary Master on an olde Dell Dimension 4100 with 815E mbo, Intel Application Accelerated, XP Pro SP2. Primary Master = WD800JB, Slave = WD2500JB. System running 24/7.

DVR-110 MADE IN CHINA. Prod date: October 2005. FW = 1.22.

25 DVD-R 8x media burns during 1st 7 days. MID = CMC Mag. And, 5 DVD+R 8x media burns, MID = MCC 003 during same period. Burn+verify, Nero Reloaded. Zero coasters. Also tested two 12x burn+verify at over-speed mode using 8x rated CMC Mag. Smooth - perhaps jerky after 90+% but no coaster. Burner wants to do 16x with 8x MCC 003 but dont dare push it... only 8x so far.

Installation instructions clearly state that you shd use 80-ribbon cable (ATA-66/100 cable). Pls dont blame drive when you use a 79 (or lower) pin cable?

Can feel slight vibration/noize (sssshhhh sound) with the 110 (but lower than the PSU fan). The retail A08XL with honeycomb casing dont have this, super silent. So, perhaps the much more expensive A10XL will be more silent than the 110 as it has same honeycomb casing as my A08? Dont even need Pioneer's 'Quiet Drive Utility'. A10 retailing at USD25 more than the 110 in my area.

XEQ.

I installed the DVR-110 (Made in China)and it would not read anything nor write until I removed the 40 wire cable and connected a 80 ribbon cable, then operated OK.

I have not tested on dual layer or plus disks yet, only -R and _RW

Hi, I have recently bought a pioneer dvr 110. I noticed that it would not burn at slow seeds with cd-r's i.e. 16x.
Is it a media problem.
I have checked the firmware version and it's 1.22
Oh,I have been using ritek for dvd-r's, and verbatum for cd-r's.
