| I bought this drive a few weeks ago at Fry's for $169. It's worked flawlessly with DVD+Rs at 4X and 2.4X, and DVD+RWs at 2.4X. I've also burned some CD-Rs and CD-RWs without any problems. I'm pretty sure it's a re-branded NEC-1100A, at least that's what system says it is. Overall, it's a great drive. No complaints. Comments posted by IPA from Other, August 19, 2003. | Bought it at Best Buy 4 days ago for $200 with a $30 rebate. I have burned backups of my xbox games and some dvds and have only made one coaster. (my fault) The software that comes with it is ok. (Nero Express, WinDVD, and WinDVD Creator. I already owned Nero Full and Power DVD so it didnt matter. It was well worth the money though. Comments posted by HaZzEaK from Other, June 25, 2003. | Just picked this up from Fry's for $199.00. I have to say it was worth every penny. In other areas of the forum it receieved a lower score becuase of the software that it came with.....who cares. All the software I need for it is freeware any ways. So it gets a solid 9 from me. The only reason it does not get a 10 is becuase it does not write both formats. However, I believe the + format will win the so called war. If not who cares. Everything I have burned works in all my set top dvd players and then some.
