I have only used ridata and have never had any coasters. I have used them for awhile now with no problems. As far as the burn speed I can burn as high as 16x with no problems. This is the first lot of 16x, I usually use the dvd-r 8x RITEKG05 and burn those at 6x have burned at 8x also with no problems. Also as far as the long term question I myself has had no problems of losing data. I think in my opinion these dvdr's are the most compatible with more players for me anyways. I have told others to use these and they have had the same results as me.

Very disappointed in not being able to get past 4x with these. DVDInfoPro shows that the manufacturer didn't provide a rated speed on the blank disc. Even trying to force 12x didn't pan out. I'm switching to (probably) ProDisc which is rated as 16x compatible by Pioneer (for the DVR108, fw=1.20B).

Disappointing quality. I've already had 1 coaster in the first 15 discs. Pioneer firmware only supports these at Z-CLV 12X, the same as RiData 8X, and now I see why. Ironically the 8X discs are superior to these.

Since I kept on failing to burn these disks at 1X using Toshiba SD-R5112 I tried buring these with the Philips SDVD8441. The Philips SDVD 8441 would only burn it at 6X instead of 8X using Z-CLV. The quality is really bad at the start of the burn, but once the drive decides to burn at 6X half way through, it becomes all better. Guess thes disks aren't optomised to burn at slow speed.

1~12x works fine with no errors....
@ 16x the writer creates bad sectors after about 98% of writing data to the disc.

These discs were tested on a Pioneer DVR-A08XLC unit with fw 1.18 (modified) that has a riplock of 12x and allows 1x~16x of all media so I was able to test this media with every speed possible. For best bet with this media 12x should be the threshold for max speed writing. Expect errors with 16x.

Continute from the last review. last review ws about Disk 1. This review is about Disk 2-7. Disk 2-7 all failed to verify after burning giving massive amount of errors when verifying in Nero. I want to see what happens when I do a scandisk. Well, its all red... I seriusly don't know what to do with these disks anymore...

Came as a 2X50 pack from newegg. Can only Burn at 1X using the below burner. Either Toshiba is too lazy to write an update firmware to include new media or RiDATA's media quality is below par that my drive's manufactur doesn't want to include it on its support list. 100 of these disks at 1X... it is going to be torture :(

The speed at which the drive read the disk is not constant/smooth curve like Taiyo Yuden's TYG01 that are burned at 4X and the drive reads the TY disk at speed of 2X-5X. The drive speed goes up and down for the first 2/3 reading RiDATA disks and hovers around 1X at the last 1/3.

These are the first 16x discs I've bought. Sadly my LG burner (GSA4163B) will only write them at 8x. I updated to the current firmware (v A105) to no avail. What a drag! I guess I'll have to go back to using the 8x ones until LG adds these ones to their compatability list. Groan!

Media works as good as G05 discs. However, it will only burn at 4x using Pioneer DVR108. Works fine on xbox (all drives). No coasters yet, but 16x media burnt at 4x max just isn't right. If you have a DVR108, stick with Ritek DVD-R 8x media and save some coin.
