Very dissapointing, claims it is a 16X disc but will in fact only burn at 4x i think the 1-16 refers to the compatibilty with players that can burn that high.

Works at 2.4-4x On GSA-4163B with A101-A106 firmware. Used MCSE ( http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/ ) to replace existing PRODISC R04 004 Entry with R05 001 in firmware, reflashed, tests good at 8, 12, and 16x after firmware modification. EXCELLENT media for the price for your LG.

The media burns great with just about any burner that supports it. I have one burner, an LG which does not have a write strategy for this, so it defaults to 4X. My three other burners (Benq, Lite-on, and Samsung) all create discs with average to excellent quality. I get the best results at 12x, while 18x produces mediocre quality scans.

Got a 50 count spindle from BJ's wholesale for 10bucks after coupon. So far I burned 2 different movies. I then ran the dvd with DVDInfoPro and Nero's CDspeed. One of them I got 80/93 and the other I got 40/70 in quality. Not as good as my TY's that always gives me about 95-98 in quality. So I am going to use these when I have to give them to someone or for my son to trash......So beware I think it is going to be a hit or miss with these....So far they have played in my set-top players. I have also Booktyped them to be DVD-ROM's and only burned them at 4X (I always burn at 4X)....

Like most 16x media, does it's best work at 12x. Average quality scores in Nero CD-DVD Speed were 88 for 16x and 94 for 8x/12x. Perfect transfer rate test curves on every disc, even when written at 16x speed. A scan of a 12x burn is attached.

I needed some cheap discs for a project so I decided to buy a spool of these. Big mistake. Even after updating my LG4163B firmware to A105, DVD Decryptor, Nero 6 and ImgBurn all say the discs have a maximum write speed of 4X. The Ritek Fuji spool I previously used had an 8X maximum speed so I have actually shortchanged myself by using newer media. Any idea how to get these to work at greater than 4X? Also, I noticed a bit of skipping on the last part of the disc I burned. Normally I use Taiyo Yudens when I fill up the disc so these might not be too bad so long as I DON'T fill up the disc. Probably no more than 3.5 - 4 Gig maximum to prevent skipping.
