Can recognize 4x and 8x writing speed, but is unreliable at 8x speed. Can play DVD-rips in a PS2. I must note that that one in ten burns actually wrote successfully and the one successful one is the basis of the DVD player reading. Not sure if I received a bad package or not, but I returned the package after experiencing the writing difficulties. However, other OptoDisc makes have had trouble writing on my DVD burner.
