Only problems I had were when I used Lite-On's Book Type tool to change the book type to DVD-ROM. DVD didn't work in anything when burned this way. Oh well, leaving the discs book type settings alone works just fine!

This media is listed on the compatibility list for the LiteON LVW5005, so I picked up a few. It worked just fine, and the discs also played in the Panasonic SA-HT70, AND JVC XV-N40. DO NOT ASSUME THESE ARE THE SAME AS THE 1-8X SONY DVD+Rs!! THEY AREN'T. The 4X Sony discs are the RicohjpnR01 while the 8X Sony discs are the Sony D11.
Although it says in the info that I used 2.4x speed, I really have no idea what speed the LVW 5005 burns at; the form forces you to choose a speed (which it probably shouldn't except for computer drives)

Burning with Optorite DD0203 through CloneDVD, created a coaster first time out. Changed the workflow to DVDDecrypter->CloneDVD->ImgTool->Nero 6.0.0.19 and everything worked fine.

I've tried memorex (+R, -R, +RW), fujifilm (+R), sony (+R, -R) and tdk (+R, +RW) disks using the pioneer 106D and all but the Fujifilm have worked great. Fujifilm works best for data but it's crap for movies (at least in my experience). The best so far for performance, price and consistency is memorex.

"Ulead DVD Movie Factory", "DVD lab" and "Copy to DVD", "DVDXCOPY XPRESS" (Clone DVD doesn't appear to consistently work with this drive in my experience). I've found that nero only works half the time with the drive and/or media. Although the drive can burn at 4x, I find that this is only a good idea when burning data, you are more likely to get coasters with movies unless you burn at 2.4x or set it at "max" and let it determine the max speed. Although, I generally use my computer while burning DVDs so you may experience better results with 4x if the computer is left alone or you have a 2+ ghz cpu (mine is only a 1ghz).
