I decided to test this media @ 4x. I wanted to the same store and I burned another copy of the same movie. Book type set to DVD-ROM.

It was a lot farter to burn and looks like the result were similar to the original burn @ 2x. The movie played properly in all my 3 DVD players and computer drives.

It looks like that CMC MAG.D01 is the media to get. Looks like it is 4x compatible, and after initial testing this burn is as reliable as the previous ones.

Probably I will keep doing my data backups @ 2.4x, but if I ever need to put 4 hours of DV video in a DVD I will be burning them @ 4x.

As my Lite-on show-1693S is supposed to improve its recording quality as it learns from previous backups, I decided to burn another movie and compare the recorded quality with my previous burns. See http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?selectmedia=3598

I bough another illusion DL blank in the same store but to my surprise it has a different media code (CMC MAG D01).

Because of my previous compatibility testing I decided to set the book type setting to DVD-ROM. This movie is 7.95 GB long and its Layer break happens at 3.98 GB. It was burned @ 2.4x, but once again Nero 6.6 and DVD Decrypter recognized it as 4x capable.

I ran a disk quality test @ 4x on this burn and found that this one was very good. The results were better with this media, than the obtained with the original PHILIPS CD2 test disks. This burn had a punctuation of 90.
