Media burns fine at 2x but 8041B does not recognize the disks as 4x. DVD identifier reports that the disks are 4x compatible, and it also reports that the drive ix a 4x DVD-R burner, but specifies that these disks will only work at 2x with this burner.

burned a copy of Spiderman using DVD X Copy and compress the video to fit on one disk, then played it back on my JVC dvd player. Constant skipping and pixelation. Burned on Maxell DVD-RW, same movie but no compression (2 Disks) and plays perfectly. I have 24 of these HM disks to go. So far, 0 for 1 success rate.

These disks should be sold with u-stick-um cork bases, so they can be RESPECTABLE coasters. Went through two packages of them, and every disk is a mixed bag of skipping and pixilation.

With version 301 of the firmware, a dismal failure (three coasters out of four, only identified as 2X, wouldn't write at all on a Mac). With firmware version 302 installed, writes comfortably from the Mac at 4x and not a coaster to be seen.
