The same procedure as for the NS 305 seems to work here:

In fact, I verified that the button codes posted by Josh for this thread of messages are identical to those that are defined in the .ccf file. However, I didn't need a power button.
All you need is to install the TV remote controller on your PDA, load the .ccf file and you will be presented 5 buttons from 1 to 5.
The NS305 in standby mode, press sequentially 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 and you will get the SUCCESS message. Then again 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 and the NS305 will go back in standby mode.
That's it :) I don't have a PDA so I asked a friend to install on his iPAQ the TV remote controller application and to load the .ccf file.

I used my iPaq PDA and the same messages appeared on the display. I used 1122334455 and "SUCCESS" appeared and the player went back to standby automatically. Again 1122334455 and player turned on again and displayed once more "SUCCESS". This time it didn't shut down afterwards...
I only cannot say for sure, whether it worked as I don't have a region code DVD besides region code 2.

After a lot of searching I have successfully hacked my region 2 Sony DVP-LS785V. It is now a region 0 player and has been tested by trying (and failing) to play a region 1 disc. After the hack it played perfectly and also still played my region 2 disks.

To apply this crack you need a laptop computer with an IRDA infra red connectivity port. Download a copy of 'Winsamp' and a file called 'Remote.txt' from http://www.selen.org/sonydvd.html

Make a dootable DOS floppy disk and extract the Winsamp files and the remote.txt file to it. reboot your laptop ensuring that it reboots from the floppy disk and run Winsamp.

Ensure that your DVD player is in standby mode and that there is no disk in the drive.

Load the Remore.txt file into winsamp by pressing the 'r' key on your laptop. You will now be able to toggle accross the screen from 'Button1' to 'Button5'. the button is activated (pressed) by pressing the enter key.

With the IRDA port facing the DVD player press 1,2,3,4,5 in turn. The player will then switch on and display the message 'SUCCESS'. Press 1,2,3,4,5, again and the player will return to standby mode.

The player is now region free

Hey, I just used the hackcode of SONY NS305 (shown above) to hack my SONY DVP LS785V with my Palm PDA TungstenE2. I used omniremote from http://www.pacificneotek.com/ and the remote style from http://dev0_2000.tripod.com/!
I turned the player to standby (no lights were on, typically for LS785V), then pressed following buttons on the palm (omniremote):1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5, the player turned on and showed 'success' on the display. Then again: 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,5,5 and the player turned of. Now I have a region free player (plays at least code 1 and 2, the other codes i didn't try!). I'm happy now. Let's see what the Tungsten E2 else can do better in this world...
