From the Pioneer FAQ For use with a PALM: You need OmniRemote Pro V2.01 (from Pacific Neo-Tek) 1. Install OmniRemote 2. Export the current Category (should be TV) to the memo pad 3. If you own a Logitech Harmony, you can send the OmniRemote codes to Logitech and let them convert it for you. Also, there have been reports that the same remote hacks (e.g. Pronto remote, ready-made hack-remotes) that work with the Pioneer DVD-players also make the BD-players region-free. The multiregion hacks only make the DVD part region-free! For multiregion BluRay, a hardware modification is required! | |||

For those in the US, this seems to be the only Blu-ray player that can be made region-free, as well as modified to be multi-system (NTSC, Pal, or AUTO). Follow the steps at http://www.pioneerfaq.info/filer/region_freel-51FD.pdf . | |||

I have done the procedure with a PAlM IIIxe, with Omniremote trial version 2.15, and it's not working on my BDP-51FD region 1 player. I have also up-grade the new firmware 1.37 from Pioneer USA and it KILL THE AVCHD reading mode. So I have return the box to the Store today. | |||
