This could not be any easier. I've been using AnyDVD HD for years and never knew it could rip Blu-Ray. I've always used Handbrake for everything. Install the supporting software and run the RipBot as an executable. Pack a lunch, I'm using a high-end i7 laptop and it takes 3 hours to transcode. This is a CPU intensive process. I've had no errors or crashes. Thanks to Gizmodo for steering me here.

This version seems to have issues with Windows 8. The preview (MPC) says "can't render file". When I select subtitles to burn in, I no longer get a dialog to select the SRT file.

this application would be great if it only worked. too many bugs with ffdshow, avisync etc.. forum not helpful, the owner is way too egocentric . anyway ,i had bugs since its creation , i don't care if it is external filters , but really , simply a pain in the butt to figure what interfere with the program . avoid ,unless you have time to waste

Brilliant piece of software very easy to use and completely free, what more could you ask for? Didn't even need to use a guide just figured it out. Outstanding. The only downsides I can see is that the encoding options are buried in the "properties" button, a separate easy-to-notice-better-labelled button would be helpful, also unlike some tools the program cannot encode on the fly, it has to demux video and audio tracks to a temp folder before it can start encoding, before in fact you can't even look at possible parameters or encoding options - if the movie is a large one that can be a long time sitting watching paint dry. Amen. N.B. if you're having problems with it don't whine about it here ASK on the forums either here or on the developers thread on the doom9 forums.

When i click on ADD it opens the add window but when i drag the Movie in there it simply does nothing, for hours, and if I would let it, forever. If i go into batch mode I get the search box and if I select the movie it just stops like before when i click on add, i just does nothing. Tool doesn't work for me, require help.

I have been using this program for years, but the most recent update adding distributed encoding is phenomenal. I can now split the encode between my 980x and 2500k and I am seeing drastically reduced encoding times (30-40% reduction). Thinking about building a couple more boxes to really set it on fire...

I just discovered this app a week ago and ran into a small problem after a few successful conversions. I rip my (yes, I own them) BD movies with anydvd-hd to the drive, remux them with tsmuxer(gui), and then convert to .mkv files. Again, the first few titles went smoothly. Then a problem with ripbot communicating with ffdshow popped up: i googled and found a potential solution of un- and re-installing ffdshow. The communication problem went away, but then ripbot went through the demuxing stage and then just sat at the 100% state (and thereby wouldn't allow me to change the Encode settings). I un-installed ripbot and its four required components, did a fresh re-install, and ran it. Now, it again processes the file in total. After 8-hours of processing, it claims the job is complete; however, there isn't an mkv file in the destination folder. Yes, i double-checked the job settings. It's just not there--there's only a video (audioless) file in the temp job folder. Anyone experience this? time to un- and re-install again.

As a follow-up to my previous post about RipBot264v1.16.5.7z. Take note of the new comment added by the author or VH admin about needing the newest version of 7-zip. "NOTE! You must extract latest version with 7-zip 32bit version!" That note wasn't there when I originally posted my problem but I might also add that although I had a pretty recent version of 7-zip v9.20 32 bit, I needed to download 7-zip v9.23 Beta for it to work. Everything extracts ok with that version. I'm not sure what's different but it worked.

RipBot264v1.16.5.7z I can decompress the previous version (RipBot264v1.16.4.7z) but all I get is errors and warnings about a bad compression method with (RipBot264v1.16.5.7z) using either Winrar or 7-Zip. It's the same whether I d/l the file from the direct link from VH or use the one from the Author's link.

this tool is spectacular. one thing i'd like to suggest adding would be an option to Sleep (alongside the option to shutdown). it would be handy for those that use Sleep/Hibernate more than shutting down their computers.

Great tool. I've suggest to author to add another external encoder command cli (like x264) for spursengine cars from toshiba, external hardware solution to encode very fast and very well bur without response. It's free for personal use and work very well with .avs script. I hope will be done with ripbot264.

i've used this program regularly in the past and it's worked great. however, i'm tryin to convert more movies now so i can place them on my new android tablet. when i add the file i'm converting, it goes thru the demuxing process, then it gets stuck at "Please Wait... Gathering Information..." it stays there until i hit abort, i even let it go overnight while i slept. it's never done this before and i'm not sure what i've changed that would be causing this now. any ideas and thoughts on how to correct this would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm trying RipBot264v1.16.4 as the *.7z file for version 1.16.5 throws up over 430 errors when trying to extract resulting in all the extracted files being 0 bytes. Got this with all download links tried. I get the same error with this app as with so many other apps that use the yadif filter for deinterlacing: Avisynth error: Not An Avisynth 2 C Plugin: C:\Downloads\RipBot264v1.16.4\Tools\AviSynth plugins\Yadif\Yadif.dll The only way I've ever been able to get yadif to work when writing my own scripts is using 'Load_Stdcall_Plugin'. 'LoadCplugin' just won't work, whatever version of Avisynth I install. I have no idea why this is. So unfortunately I can not fully try this app out as it won't encode. Loading and making changes etc work fine, it just doesn't do anything when I come to encode because of the problem I get with yadif not loading using 'LoadCplugin'.

I have been using this latest version of RipBot 264 and I have to say that this is probably the best "freeware" program I have ever used! Very highly recommended H264 encoding solution.Does everything you need it to do with a clean interface. Brilliant, simple and easy to use. Running on a Quad machine with Win7 64 bit, and so far no glitches or bugs- very stable and fast! Beautifully renders MKV/MP4 video files to play on the big screen through my media player.Kudos to the developer of this software!

Simple interface GUI that makes use of various opensource tools. Works great for folks looking to re-encode video content for their portable devices. @branch Compared to MeGUI or StaxRip and you will realize RipBot indeed requires less settings.

Who the hell wrote that question - "without exotic filters and unnecessary settings" and then it requires AVisynth, ffdshow, haali media splitter all of which i consider exotic and unnecessary things.

The tool can't detect audio of a file that has any ASCII in the name.

Great little piece of software very inuitive. Unfortunately I only figured out about an error through these "comments". DON'T CHANGE THE OUTPUT DIRECTORY!! I wanted it to save > Desktop and I changed the name from 00017 to the name of the BD Movie and after 2.5 hours of exciting anticipation, the movie file never popped up onto my desktop. I've learned my lesson and drag/rename movies AFTER they've been output into the default folder. That should be a MAJOR bug oversite! the temp folder that's demuxing should automatically spit out the encoded file anywhere the User sees fit. No offense to the creator of this software, but if CloneDVDmobile supported Blu ray encoding, I would totally go with them. But alas I will bite the (free)bullet and use this. Still an A+ Product!
